the situation going on in the UK is so disheartening to me

Please, even if you're not in the UK spread around the information you see, this needs to be heard.

Even if you think it doesn't involve you or you're unaffected right now, if other governments see they can get away with it they *will* start implementing the same or similar restrictions.

Even if you don't have any kind of connection to NSFW, this isn't just about that. This is going to block valuable resources for learning and growing, this is going to block safe access to LGBT resources or positive media, this is going to block resources for victims of abuse that may have nowhere else to go.

Not to mention it's a huge invasion of privacy. No one should be able to track you that thoroughly on *anything.* and that's not even taking into account the fact that, even things like password security things have been hacked, VPNs have been hacked for information. If you have to send in a picture of your ID to verify identity, there are people who *will* try and target specifically to get or even just to leak that information.

There are people out there who having their faces tied to their online identity would be *devastating* I'm not just talking about people who post content some people may not like online, I'm talking about closeted LGBT folk who may not be in a safe spot to come out irl, I'm talking about people who are at risk of being found by a stalker, and there are so many more examples of situations like this.

I don't usually like to post anything but lighthearted shit here, but this along with the restriction of games and other media online via payment policing are very important and personal matters to me.

I wanted to take my partner to see England one day, places like Brighton, and London, and Bath and Portsmouth, and maybe even show him the house my granny lived in, and my dad wants to go on a family trip with my brother and sister, but the way the government is taking things over there right now could put a risk to our safety. I really don't want to be the only one of my siblings to have gotten to see half of its heritage.

England and the UK as a whole is such a beautiful country with a rich history, and this law will not just keep everyone digitally out, it'll imprison everyone digitally within. So please, do what you can, even if that's just sharing resources around.
