Does anyone else get this weird fucking anxiety that makes them cold and shakey during any kind of game that's competition based, even when they just play casually. It goes away if I play a game long enough but just starting or restarting a game sucks :/

Here we go, I don’t usually get personal on here as many of my followers will know. But at 8:30am when I woke up and started to scroll my phone before facing the day, I came across a post which basically made a mockery out of those who have “fake internet friends.” Now don’t get me wrong, internet safety is a huge deal. Especially to our little ones.

With that said, around five years ago through my partner, I was introduced to a fellow gamer over Xbox live who also loved Halo as much as I did. After a while, playing the master chef collection, Halo 5, ODST and reach became a near dearly thing. Me, my partner and our Xbox friend spoke about everything and anything. Fast forward a few months and it became apparent that my friendship with this dude was somewhat better than with some people I’d known my whole life. There was times when he didn’t come online for a while or message/ call and I would.ebcome worried and sad. Other times when I’ve felt so shitty (especially during my pregnancy with my daughter.) And my Xbox friend has been my go to parson because he never fails to make us laugh and put the world to rights as we kill aliens or Spartans in outer space. My family ask how he’s doing. We Skyped from the hospital after my daughter was born, he showed more compassion and enthusiasm towards the new arrival than some of my own family did, and still asks how she’s doing, wishes.her happy birthday. My daughter knows who he is, we talk about him quite a lot. She’s now two and loves putting the headset on and talking to her Xbox uncle. After 5 years he is no longer an Xbox friend. He’s part of the family.

I think what I’m trying to get at here is yes the internet can be a big scary place. But genuine friends you meet on there are just as real, if not more important than some people you meet in real life. Internet friends are not “fake friends.”

I will always be thankful to Microsoft and Halo for finding the missing piece of our weird little family. Although he lives 3175 miles or a 7 hour plane flight away. One day we will all meet in the real world, despite the poor graphics we will have the best time ever.
