Your opinion on that Otherkin film that's going to be made?
Kill it with fire.
Every time something like this has happened ( this is far from the first media attempt to look at otherkin) it always takes a sensationalist “hey look at the freaks” approach.
The last time zigzag sent out e-mails and messages to the kin community I personally talked to one of its reps, about what otherkin were, how we were essentially pretty normal people, how we would like to be represented and why most of us would not want to do something like this at all.
His response was that he understood where I was coming from but they had to get viewer attention and make money. And thats how its going to be every time unless we make a documentary ourselves.

Otherkin-as-a-subculture has never been about fashion. Therianthropy-as-a-subculture has never been about fashion. Nonhumanity is not a fashion movement. You don't need gear/costumes/accessories to be part of otherkin or therian subculture, and own those things does not make you part of the subculture. The subculture is first and foremost about baring your soul to other otherkin and expressing your nonhumanity through writing and art - and yes, fashion, but fashion itself has never been a defining part of our community. Otherkin is a philosophical, spiritual, self-perception-focused, identity-based subculture. Not a fashion-based subculture.

Queen of the night. The Mashaba female keeps a close eye on the Tsalala pride of Londolozi. This image was shot in tungsten, at around 1/250s which gives the blue halo effect to the sky.

The Anderson Male Leopard faced a brutal encounter, nearly losing his eye in what appeared to be a ferocious battle with another leopard. In the aftermath, his eve was swollen and appeared lifeless-glassed over and milky. We all assumed the worst, thinking he had lost the eye for good.
However, nature had other plans. Over the next month, a miraculous transformation unfolded before our eyes. The swelling gradually subsided, the milky appearance began to clear, and soon enough, the once-deemed lost eye seemed to regenerate and regain its function. It was nothing short of a miracle.
Taken in Sabi Sands, South Africa Words and photography by Nick Kleer

Tortoise Pan male with the latest battle scar. He is one of the last traceable descendants of the Original Mother leopard, whose acceptance of humans changed leopard-viewing and safari etiquette since 1979. Image shared by Mala Mala Game Reserve.

new mini-zine I made at the pride event yesterday. it's therianthropy propaganda 🐶 it's not intended to be that serious. and the full file is on itch of course:

One thing they don't tell you about being an adult therian is that much of the online community gradually feels more and more alienating. Posts about wearing gear to school or writing about your theriotype at college stop feeling relatable. And it's admittedly hard not to get grumpy about it. Sure, occasionally you see some insights about working a 9 to 5 when you're a dog, or managing your appointments when you're a bird, but most of the short-form writings you come across feel less like the relevant ramblings of your peers, and more like looking through a window at a life you had to leave behind. I don't miss school, good gods, nothing could ever make me wish I was 16 again. But I do miss the relative simplicity of it, and the ease with which I related to other school-age therians.

vet school, reproductive physiology class.
new professor specializes in birds.
can't stop saying things like "us birds are superior to mammals", "avians, we're so much smarter", "we [talking about birds] do this because it's practical"
it was so amusing to hear. he kept getting lost on fun facts about birds and was so sweet.
i wonder how many alterhumans are out there and will never find out there's a word for it.
