Thinking about the reaction people are having to Louis being at Zayn's concert versus the reaction y'all had to anytime Liam interacted with any of them. Thinking and remembering on what y'all did.

like bro this was the story man!!! from being thick as thieves in the band, literal partners in crime, being there for each other through the struggles hyping each other up while one struggled with anxiety and the other with confidence in his voice and then having such a huge, public fallout. then years later, healing with time and slowly reaching out, orbiting around each other's social media, liking posts as if sending signals, developing the slowest of slow burns and then going through a monumental, shared loss and now louis publically showing up in support as zayn is on his first ever solo tour and getting over his anxieties with performing and getting not only more confident but actually enjoying himself. like louis gets to see him come soo far after he himself has gone through a similar journey with his tours and he himself has gotten to come so far and then zayn shouting out his friend. bro so full circle just my zouis oh my god 😭😭😭

Look, I’m aware this might sound dramatic, but this is not a reunion. The One Direction we knew, and have known it to be, is dead. It died with Liam. There is no “One Direction reunion” without him.

In another universe the boys weren’t overworked, in another universe the boys were protected from older women and the media. in another universe maybe zayn stayed. in another universe the boys reconciled. in another universe they remained brothers until they were old and gray. in another universe liam recovered and found peace.

it does not need to be (perhaps nor should it be) public but I really, really hope that the four surviving members take the time to reconnect and make peace

It makes me sad that this is what it took for people to rejuvenate their love for 1D. I’ve seen posts on other social media of people looking up 1D for the first time out of interest and realizing the quality of music is actually good (which is what this professional musician was screaming into the void a decade ago).

Liam is gone, and his death has made people appreciate him more, and the sad irony is that if he’d seen that appreciation consistently he might still be here. He would have loved this revival.

I am mourning both the loss of Liam, but also the loss of the small refuge 1D offered me, in a harsh world.

Their music, their interviews, the fic — it was a tiny utopia I could retreat to, untouched by the realities of life. In those albums, in those stories, they could just be five boys, singing, having fun, making it big, loving each other, and I could suspend the biggest truth of life for the length of a song, an album, a fic: that happiness and grief often go hand-in-hand.

Now, grief has walked into my comfort zone and touched everything. It’s tried to put things back where it found them, but it’s no use. My refuge has changed and there’s no going back.

Rest in peace, Liam. I wish you had gotten the help you needed. Thank you for holding my comfort zone together, for all these years.
