I’m currently in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit receiving blood transfusions because of my period. I’m supposed to head to D.C. on the 18th for college, and until just an hour ago I didn’t know if that would be possible all because of the setbacks caused by my period. I’m a special case, most people aren’t on two blood thinners with a bleeding disorder, I get that, but it’s time for the stigma with ALL periods to end both in social society and in medicine.

birth control does more than prevent pregnancy (which can also be medically necessary in some individuals) it can make periods more regular, control bleeding, and help with pain. I can’t take hormonal birth control because it increases my risk for blood clots (shout out to my oxymoronic body) the options for me are more permanent and doctors don’t want an eighteen year old to be making those decisions. while I understand it, I’m frustrated by it because it furthers the idea that a woman isn’t really a woman if she can’t have kids, which is the farthest thing from the truth. we need more options, we need more coverage, we need better dialogue, we need to stop putting women down, and we have to stop trying to dictate women’s choices about women’s bodies. • image description: shira in a hospital bed looking up at her transfusion

There’s this spot made by Kampania Przeciw Homofobii (Campaign Against Homophobia) - a polish organization and support group for LGBTQIA+. The message is to promote the civil partnership legislation.

The title of the spot is “Close Strangers” (“Najbliżsi Obcy”) the main idea being that the Polish system not recognizing same-sex couples as an official form of relationships, means that they’re practically strangers in the face of law.

There’s also been this announcement that the spot is to be aired in the public television - which is a big news. Not a day has passed since the announcement and already there’s been a swarm of cishet fuckboy dudebros and other bigoted nationalist scum flooding the comment section spewing their bigoted hate and homophobia all over the place…
