This is a complete assumption, but I know Maddie has talked about wanting to go to medical school and a lot of students try to get college done in 4 years so they can get to medical school and graduate med by 26 years old. It may have been more of an academic decision so she could graduate on a certain timeline.

I am really disappointed that UCLA didn't redshirt Maddie this year. I seriously don't know how anyone could think it's a good idea to have her pushing so much. I was at the Metroplex Challenge and she iced for a long time after her beam routine :/
