The pictured labradorite and black opal (natural Australian Lightning Ridge black opal) skull necklace. It’s pictured in shiny copper with a 14k rose gold filled chain, however if the winner wishes, I can darken it and use a darkened copper chain. 

A high quality, super detailed carved labradorite seahorse. 

Together, these have a retail value of about $300

PLEASE HELP!!!

Forever Dream Senior Dog Sanctuary, located in Tryon, NC, is at risk.

Last week a trusted volunteer, and close friend of the sanctuary owner for 30 years, shocked our entire community by stealing all of the sanctuary’s funds and disappearing.

Police reports have been filed, investigations are underway, but while all of that is going on, the sanctuary still has no funds. The local community is already helping out by donating what food and supplies they can, but tens of thousands of dollars worth of donations were stolen. That money goes towards keeping the sanctuary running.

Please, please help. Verna Wilkins, the sanctuary owner, is my friend, and I have had the privilege of working up close with the seniors and the sanctuary, and seeing the amazing work she does. The sanctuary is such a wonderful place. It not only provides forever homes and medical care to undesirable senior dogs, but Verna also rehabilitates feral seniors that were abandoned - something that happens all too often in this area.

GOFUNDME: SAVE OUR NAVAJO LANGUAGE

“I never learned my Navajo language and I was never inspired to learn it.  As I got older, I realized how valuable our language is to the livelihood of our Navajo Nation. ” -Dr. Shawna L. Begay

Our Navajo or Diné language is in danger of becoming extinct.  Help us create and develop the first Navajo-English educational media TV puppet show, “Diné Bí Ná’álkid Time” which means ‘The Navajo Movie Time.’  It will inspire and teach our youth basic language skills using media as a technology tool. Parents, grandparents, children and grandkids can learn to speak Navajo  fluently together within their own homes. Long-time friends and educators, Dr. Shawna L. Begay and Charmaine Jackson have teamed up to create this new TV pilot for an all-ages audience or for anyone who wants to learn the Navajo language.   With your support, it’ll be the first educational Navajo and English puppet show that will teach and preserve the Navajo language and culture through digital media.

After several years of extensive research on the Navajo Nation, Dr. Begay recently completed her PhD from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas with her doctorate thesis, ‘Developing A Navajo Media Guide: A Community Perspective.’ As project director, she quickly realized she was a pioneer on the topic.

“When I decided what topic to study I realized there existed very little research in Indigenous educational media, especially with our Navajo people,” stated Dr. Begay.  “As Navajo people, we have our own learning objectives and Navajo way of knowing is completely different for Euro-Western schooling.  I decided that I had to research and develop our own curriculum guide that is meant to teach Navajo through media.” Dr. Begay and Jackson, co-writers of the show, developed the first 3-puppet characters and plan for many more. The pilot features Nanabah-a young Navajo girl, Gáh (Rabbit) and Dlǫ̀ǫ̀ (Prairie Dog) who will go on endless adventures learning about language, gardening, the environment and the importance of family values. Nanabah is fluent in Navajo and likes to teach children about life on the reservation with her animal friends and special guests.  Children who want to learn Navajo will also be an important part of the show by interacting with Nanabah, her friends and storyline. Dr. Begay’s research concluded there exists very little research in the area of Indigenous educational media. Currently media is a very powerful tool that can be used to teach. She is cognizant of the digital age we live in and the opportunities to utilize media to revitalize the Navajo language.   “Star Wars and Finding Nemo,” dubbed in Navajo, was a great place to start and it has garnered national exposure of our language. However, we need a show based on our own Navajo learning principals our ancestors set out for us to learn and live by. I don’t think a non-Navajo, non-Native or non-Indigenous person can do that for us, nor should they.  We, as Navajo, need to produce this show ourselves, if we are to be truly sovereign,” added Dr. Begay. Both educators, Dr. Begay and Jackson, of Naalkid Productions have been talking about this educational language project for about the past four years and still have a long way to go to finance their dream. “With the support of Navajo TV Anchor Colton Shone, our team of Navajo artists, filmmakers, family and friends, this video pilot is a huge step forward,” said Jackson.  “Our journey has just begun and the big next step is finding financial support to create a whole new puppet TV series.” We aim to raise $50,000 with this project which will allow us to continue with pre-production and production aspects of making this digital media project become a reality.  We need your help to save our language by teaching Navajo to our future generations. I’ve mentioned wanting to start a collective in my city and doing some action in marginalized communities, but instead of doing that i’ve decided to start bigger. Me & other activists have banded together to start a reparations initiative after one we all benefited from was shut down.

Reparations and the importance of reparations are a hot topic in just about every political circle there is. Regardless of ideology it’s often difficult to get people to understand just how important reparations are, not only to the Black community, but to our current racial climate and the social repair that is absolutely necessary for change to happen. A change which is integral to stopping white supremacy + capitalism.

Black activists and leftists have been telling the world for years that the black community is owed reparations in the form of money as well as opportunities like job programs, higher education, and better neighborhoods. This sub-project’s goal is to eventually branch out into an initiative that’ll guarantee all that for the communities that absolutely need it most. The black + houseless, the black + uninsured, the black + otherwise hopeless.

For this subproject to be successful we need people like you to bring attention to it. No one cares about social change unless it’s got a hashtag or pink pussy hat attached to it, so it’s important that people like you get your friends talking about it! Bringing up the concept of reparations can be difficult, but the labor is paramount over all, and any true ally knows the importance of laboring for marginalized communities.

Performative allyship

I see more posts by white people asking if it’s “okay” for them to see Black Panther than I do see them asking for links to charity campaigns trying to help young Black kids see the movie.  which is to say the BP tags have like three of the former posts every day, but I have yet to see a SINGLE post by a white person asking people to send them links for campaigns they can support.  I need someone to realize that this is the pinacle of performative allyship. they’re out here trying to get their hoodpass into wakanda but aren’t ready to let Jerome hold a dollar. They want to be invited to the cookout, but won’t even bring a bag of ice. They want to think themselves the ‘special white people’ but don’t actually want to do the work of the special white people. and before you, white person clearly missing the point of this posts asks, yes, you CAN reblog this if it’s to show support of the message.

I NEED HELP FOR MY SISTER AND HER SON

My name is Monica. And this is my sister Wiola and her six years old son Jakub.

Two months ago my sister’s husband left with another woman and has move to another country. We don’t know where excacly. He doesn’t pay for anything, he doesn’t send any money. He is a piece of shit. He was homophobic towards me (I’m a lesbian), he cheated on her when she was pregnant. He was always working, not caring about his son. But my sister stayed with him because of the child. Also she had to leave the place they live for the last 9 years because it was bought by his parents and they told her to move out.

She is back now in our parents home where I sill live too. There’s only two small rooms in the house, kitchen and one bathroom. All of this for 5 people now. This is our house:

She wants to find a place to rent because right now she is stuck wth Jakub with me in my small room. She is a kindergarden teacher and her salary is only 900zł. And her son is in the first grade and he doesn’t even have a place to do his homework. My father is an alcoholic with violent tendencies so it’s not good for my nephew to still live here. He is very sensitive and cry realy easly and he has developed eating disorder in the past months. She is going to take legal action against her husband but she needs money for that too. Her lawyer told her that maybe there’s a chance to take the house back. Or at least money for it. I don’t know how else to help her because I’m unemployed at this moment. Please we can’t live like that for much longer. She needs 1400$.
