So that Omni is... unique huh?
“...yeah?... their species is a different type that I have yet to see prior to meeting them... of course they are unique.”
He is confused of why they would ask about Omni. Though it did remind him that he did promise to head back over there... hmmm...

So how is the living ink blot doing?
Tumblr media
He stares at the gray being and gives a shrug before returning to his sketchbook. Seems like he’s doing his usual ‘job’.

((aaah ok just an update!
Yeah... I’m currently more active on my main blog - 7goodangel - due to working and school stuff!
Though I hope to do more RPs here! However I’m only gonna do stuff with mutuals on either this blog or my main blog... due to how time constraint I am currently.
I hope to start another PJ and Omni thread this week depending on how blue and I are doing...
And so you know - Asks are always available!
Just know that I won’t start threads with just asks - PJ will just answer them and base his answers on his current experiences.
So yeah! If you want to know more about the quirks and stuff of PJ, I’m answering those questions on my blog! For comments and questions directly for PJ - ask them here! ^^ ))

When hearing that note that they will be there at sunset tomorrow, Paper pulled out a different booklet and made a note of it within. The antivoid is horrible to be in when checking time, but as long as he entered into universes in sync with this one... then...
"...I...I'll be here. Tomorrow. Promise." He mumbled into his scarf once more before feeling around with his feet for a crack to slip through. Once they found it, he turned back once more.
"I..It was nice meeting you as well Omni." He wasn’t sure if that's proper to respond with but he rolled with it as he sunk into the 'crack' within that universe

“….!” Oh…oh god I’m staring….
Paper slapped their face with both their good and not as good hands before nodding yes.
“Just… I’ve never met another being that shifts at least their physical appearance to feel more comfortable…you can do more though - which is very interesting. I can only shift my appearance and nothing more.”
“Oh? I guess that makes sense considering how you retracted the ink in your hand! That’s so cool!~ So.. You can shape-shift to fit whatever appearance you want to have? That’s really cool!”
Omni offered, now her, hand out to the other to show them the exact same biological makeup that he had. “I mean, I guess the plus of that is that you never have to feel like you can’t show your real face. Because no matter what, it’s still all you and who you make yourself to be. That seems pretty neat to me!~”

Paper looked back up to see that mask on the other - a too familiar mask. Though he knew that if he try to force himself to stay longer - he might just have an overload of emotions just due to how things seemed to be heading. Being around others from an observing distance is fine, but up close and in the conversation? That can get too much too fast.
He can't let their emotions get to him. He just can't.
It's not an option...
"...sorry to leave. I...I have to look at other universes now" That's a lie - he is not going anywhere in particular, "so I should get going..."
He looked back down to the ground and fiddles with his scarf more.

"O..oh. And I guess I am glad to have the opportunity to observe you and be able to ask questions..."
They kept their glance to the floor as the turned and started to head off, but before they took too many steps away, they turned back and said, "...thank you... for the music..."

Paper observed the other's newly formed hand. Yep - that looks fairly similar to what they are like. It's weird, yet fascinating to see a being who is able to do this.
Though to the comments Omni made, Paper silently nodded while looking at the floor. That was the first compliment they ever received - at least one that sounded purely genuine about themselves. They heard things about their art every so often - but not about them personally.

the-printers-jammed:
He shuffled his scarf so that it was laying normally behind him, letting his almost reformed hand fall to his side as his right hand stayed at the neck of the scarf, fiddling with it. He cleared his throat and asked, “…so… do you shift your make up for specific reasons or to just feel more comfortable…? I guess more specifically defining it… are you genderfluid? Or do you just change for other outside reasons? ….”
Paper knew this felt a little intrusive, but he really did want to know - and while feeling nervous about this - the only indication of his nerves would be him the fiddling the scarf.
“Comfort and gender reasons I suppose.. I mean, my uh.. normal.. self.. is a bit.. outlandish to look at. It’s not defined by gender, so I don’t really feel like I have a gender. But I do like switching between the three sometimes. I have the power to do so and I mean.. It makes me happy at least and I don’t have to worry about gawking eyes..” They paused. “So I guess the answer is yes?”
As if to demonstrate their point, Omni pushed themselves up onto their feel as the color of their bones suddenly began to blacken and- drip? RGB and CYMK colors painted over their appearance, the body structure taking on a more feminine look to it. Today is a feminine day.
Omni took on a complete skelinkton biology, twisting their body back and forth to observe their handiwork. Well, these weren’t exactly the colors they were going for… nor that they wanted… But, these mess ups happen now and again. Considering they also just ruined the clothes they wore. Mistakes have been made.
“Eh, I feel like being feminine today, but.. I can take on the appearance of any race I want in whatever way I want. Keeps me happy, keeps other people happy.”
This biological structure sure was new though. It might just be an outer shell of an appearance, but was still freaking weird. Scratching their now inky cheek, the odd monster attempted to hide the blush that threatened to take over their face.
“Does.. that all make sense? Err, also sorry if you took offense to my.. choice of change..”
Real smooth, Omni. Real smooth.

Paper just observed - wide eyes and all. He was amazed that there was a being that could shape shift to this extent out in the universes; and doing so right in front of him... he saw that as a good way to show proof. And to the form? He doesn’t really care. All he saw is another being that is at some similar level like himself. Sure - Paper cannot change his species entirely nor his lack of biological gender, but external appearance is something in common. Though it seemed to Paper that Omni was questioning a little with the term of 'genderfluidity'. Oh well - he guessed that at least now they would know something close to how they feel like.
But it is fascinating to see another being that could even look like himself - let alone feel similar to him. They are lucky that they can change their full gender...
Though while Paper was thinking of all of this, he was just staring back at Omni; everything was frozen except for his eyes, which were wide with awe.

“…it’s fine…..wasn’t thinking…”
Paper mumbled under his breath as he took the notebook back and tucked it within his side pouch. He thought about what else to say - since he knew he couldn’t just leave it on that. Beings of any kind are drawn in by curiosity and questions, so Paper thought it was time to fill in the gaps about his arm.
“…didn’t think about how beings are not used to seeing that…hand cramped up so had to fix it. Shifting around ink in order to reform my hand around my structure. That’s all”
His glare shifted to the wrapped hand then to the ground. Ugh this conversation, though short, wasn’t going the way Paper hoped any conversation would go. He did something stupid and now he had to explain himself before more questions occur… and he doesn’t like doing that. He wasn’t fully sure if Omni would ask like other beings, but he didn’t want to wait and find out. Better to say it all at once instead of waiting for the inevitable.
Omni waved their hand. “Hey, no worries. Though that is interesting biology..You don’t have to explain anything you don’t wanna to me. I understand what that’s like. I mean.. ”
They paused, mulling over if they should tell them or not. They could be a bit of a blabber mouth at times and already their actions would raise questions. This person just offered information about themselves that they probably didn’t need to tell Omni; possibly not even wanting to tell them. It was only fair that Omni offered something of themselves as well.
“…I can change my biological makeup at will, and uh..well, it raises a lot of questions that people don’t even check to see if they’re okay to ask. Just, kinda gush questions nonstop. Gets to be a bit much when people don’t understand where to draw the line… Gist is, I don’t want you to feel obligated to tell me anything you don’t want to. Forcing a conversation isn’t a whole lot of fun.”

So Paper, what do you think of this Omni?

“They seem alright. At least they are respectful of privacy and quietness. I’ll at the minimum talk to them another time to make sure that just wasn’t a fluke.”

When he heard the other speak up a little about themselves... it wasn't something Paper was expecting.
They... can change their makeup? Of how they are? He wanted to know if they were somewhat like him - but hearing the sudden questions part - Paper know how that can be. When around other beings figuring out about how he is genderfluid, he’d run from anyone wanting to ask about how that is like or anything similar.
But... like other beings... curiosity filled within him. He couldn’t help it - he’s naturally curious of things and beings that are unique to a world, and Omni seems to be really unique.
"...." He started to fiddle a little with the scarf around his other hand, "...C...can I ask one thing about you? On that topic..."

The sudden movement of the other made Paper realize that ‘hey…maybe people are not used to seeing a beings hand disappear and show the inner workings.‘
With that in mind, Paper tried to reform his hand quickly, but the ink wasn’t fully done breaking up yet. With a sigh, he sat up, covering that part of his arm with a portion of his scarf - which honestly looks more ridiculous since the scarf was still sitting around his neck.
Though once back up in the sitting position, Paper couldn’t help but unwrap his arm a little until a few of the strings flopped out - laying there lifeless. It is weird how his body is controlled by the ink, but held together by the strings. But he wish that the strings weren’t even there.
He tugged on them a little, accidentally letting his expression fall a little until he slapped himself out of it and covering the area back up again.
It took him a little bit to look back again to the other - they did provide Paper some music… so he guessed the ‘being way to do things’ is to repay. Paper then stood up and shuffled over to the now dry notebook, keeping his face and arm within the scarf as the good hand picked it up and held it in the direction Omni was at.
Paper didn’t look at them, but jiggled the pages in his hand a little to show that he was okay for the other to look at them.
Omni observed this stranger with the utmost interest and respect. Was he ashamed of the strings? Err that was probably their fault that he was trying so hard to cover them up..
However the skeleton looked almost puzzled as PJ offered the notebook to them. Carefully laying their harp in their lap, Omni’s delicate fingers slipped around the corners of the book to take it from Papers hand, analyzing the excellent work in detail.
“I’ve met a lot of artists.. but none quite with the same level of skill as you do. The colors are absolutely divine and the scene flawless. Quite the impressive work, uh.. Oh I never.. asked your name. How rude of me! They call me Omni, what’s your name?”

They think it's impressive? Well the only thing other than being a 'judge' of sorts is painting and drawing so with a lifetime of experience - he can understand from that aspect. But a part of him still thinks it is either not that great or just plain awful.
He pushed their scarf over his face a little - it's one of the ways he knows for sure that no emotion is showing - at least with his mouth. He didn't really want to say a word, but how else is he going to communicate with this..Omni...
With a small breath, he quietly spoke through his scarf - keeping a steady glance back at them, "......Paper Jam... and..........thanks."

Paper was about half way through finishing the picture when he noticed the slight change in the music. It was subtle - but it was noticeable to someone who doesn’t listen to music much like him. Honestly - this music is a nice welcome to the silence of the antivoid where they normally finished sketch work at.
He switched gears and started to paint in the deeper shades and shadows of the scenery - defining the buildings more from the general natural scenery. He couldn’t help but look back behind them to see the other smile a bit.
W-were they smiling at him? Why?
All he was doing was painting… and the other was just playing music… No talking - no other noises. Paper does admit for a conversation or a first meeting - it is awkward, but it is certainly more welcomed than the constant questions and talking other beings start out with.
The way they turned and looked at the lavender skeleton surprised them. Was there something on their face? What was that look for? An eye ridge lifted at PJ’s incredulous glance as their head tilted in response.
“Something the matter?”
They spoke softly without a single falter in their music. Once you start the beat, it don’t stop till it’s over, ya know?

A small scowl ended up on Paper's face - not due to the other looking over his work, which he could sense them closer at times - but how he reacted to the other's voice...
‘GOD why did I jump a little there?!’ He thought, ‘My soul is still creaking around the strings within me..u g h..’
He hates showing any emotions to beings that don't need to know - which is everyone. Luckily, he was now at the highlights part of the image; taking a thin paint brush and with pure white ink, carefully placing it in spots to make the scenery pop.
It took a few moments but finally, Paper placed the materials back into his pouch in a sequence, lay the notebook beside him, opened due to the wetness, and flopped onto his back to look up at the sky with a barley audible sigh. God, he doesn't know if he liked how he finished that in one go or not - cause now the strings and ink around his left hand are not acting properly enough for him to control it.
So a solution? To retract the ink there and let the strings lay there, spread out almost like a hand but not quite, as he relaxed and tried to 'breathe'

Paper quickly turned back to his painting in front of him, feeling his soul pressure against the strings around it. Even though it was soft - it still startled Paper to hear the other speak.
It was unexpected for the other to speak now, due to just listening to music this whole time with no voice in an ear’s reach.
After taking a few breaths, he shook his head before continuing with the shading of the scenery. He quickly resumed the work on placing the defining features in the natural life around the entire area.
