Does anyone else remember the time before hoo came out where there was this almost fandom-wide head canon that Nico, Thalia, and Percy developed this cousin/family bond after the war and like a lot of fan fiction had them as a power team with a sibling bond and I don’t know why but I really liked those

Drawing Soulmate AU

Based on the AU where anything your soulmate draws on their skin shows up on your skin too

Percy draws on his arms when he’s bored in class

Which is nearly all the time

Percy hopes his soulmate likes the pictures he draws

Annabeth really likes seeing the random doodles show up

They help her feel not as alone after she runs away

Sometimes they write little messages to each other

When Percy shows up at Camp he had a few random words written in Greek

While Annabeth is giving him ambrosia she notices the same words on her arms and gets really excited

She writes, “You drool in your sleep” on her arm and sure enough it shows up on Percy’s

When he wakes up he’s really confused but then he sees Annabeth and they both get really excited because they found each other at twelve.

Piper doesn’t write on her arms a lot since it washes off in water pretty easily (and it’s only on your soulmate’s arm as long as it’s on yours)

Then Piper gets a mostly waterproof marker and writes on her arm all. the. time.

Jason is thrilled when he gets more messages all of a sudden

When Jason gets the tattoo on his arm Piper is really surprised since they’re only four

The tattoo on her arm fades overtime but it’s never completely gone

Frank doesn’t get any marks on his arm for a really long time

But the first one he gets is a really amazing drawing of horse on his left arm

As soon as that shows up he writes “Hi” in really big letters across his hand

Hazel is really excited when the word “Hi” shows up

For a while they communicate through writings

Every time one of them asks where the other lives they always say “it’s complicated” since they’re not sure how to explain New Rome

One day they’re both on guard duty when Frank asks what Hazel’s doing and she says she’s drawing a picture for her soulmate

A small cluster of yellow flowers that’s a few feet away

Slowly, as she’s drawing, the lines begin to show up on Franks arm

He gets really excited but he wants to let her finish the drawing first so he waits before asking to borrow her pen

Then, in huge letters, he rights “Hi” on his hand

Hazel looks over in realization and they both get supper excited and talk for hours

Leo is cracking up during Mark of Athena when they write “Hot Stuff” and “All the Ladies luv Leo”

He hopes his soulmate is having a good laugh too

He’s never gotten any writings back but he always convinces himself that his soulmate is out there somewhere

Calypso feels bad about not being able to respond but she’s glad her soulmate keeps sending messages

Will writes notes for himself all the time on his arm

Sometimes they’re things like “Clean up cabin” or “Restock Band-Aids”

But other times they’re really obscure things like “Look up Sphenopalatine Ganglioneuralgia”

Nico can’t figure out if his soulmate just really likes words or if they want to be a doctor or something similar since they tend to be medical related

Nico usually writes what the word means on his arm and Will will tell him if he got it right

Nico writes phrases in Italian

They love the game they have going of looking up obscure medical words and translating Italian

When Nico shows up at camp he goes to Will and says, “Hey, you know medical words, can you tell me what this means?”

And Will gets really excited and says what he just translated from Italian

And they’re both so happy because they finally found each other

Annabeth:

Percy: My name.

Annabeth: Actually, your name isn't a part of the assignment so technically, you've written nothing.

Percy: wow thanks Annabeth that's deeply motivating.

hey yall. i just realized something.

this is probably gonna be long but whatever. stick with me.

soooo im currently rereading the original pjo series. and i am feeling. so many. things. i realized a lot of things too.

okayyy so in PJO, we view percy as reckless. stupid. always acting on impulse. basically that dumb guy that never thinks befire doing things. BUT in HOO, we start viewing him as mature and smart and strategic and all that. But he didnt grow THAT much. Percy didnt age that much in hoo.

Remember that iconic scene (Mark of Athena, i think?) where they meet some kind of monster/bad ppl (im too lazy to search it up) aboard the argo II and it was percy that thought of saying that Dionysus was with them? Percy knew about their fear of dionysus, and how he turned them inti dolphins. So he got some diet coke as “proof” that he was there and asked frank to turn into a dolphin. Genius, right?

Annabeth called him smart after that.

That was the only time we considered him smart. (Well not ONLY, just one of the few times.) But guess what? He’s been doing smart shit like that for years already.

I cant really mention all of the times he did something smart/wise. If i did it would take me days before i finish typing.

So i realized why we only thought he was smart in hoo but not in pjo.

In PJO, it was in first person, so we saw everything through the eyes of percy. In this series, he only focused about how stupid he was, about how great other people were and how better they are then him. But he doesnt focus about all the good/smart/wise things he’s done. Percy doesnt know that he’s smart. All he knows is that he is stupid, worthless, and all other negative things.

in HOO, however, we were reading from another person’s point of view. We saw percy from another person’s eyes. We noticed things that he doesnt notice himself.

Hazel called him a god, once, because he was just THAT attractive. Everyone else looked up to him, and thinks he’s the most powerful/strongest person to exist.

But Percy doesnt know that. All he knows is that he’s stupid.

SOOOO, long story short, Percy hates himself.

“Hey, Kelly?”

Kelly looked up from her biology textbook, blinking at her best friend Olivia, who was definitely not doing the chapter review questions they’d been assigned. “What?”

“Do you think there’s something weird about Percy Jackson?” Olivia asked.

Kelly followed her to gaze to where Percy was sitting at the back of the room, leaning back in his chair. He wasn’t doing the review questions, either - instead, he was staring into the fish tank behind his desk. Kelly couldn’t see his face, but his dark hair was ruffled up and he was wearing his AHS hoodie with ‘Jackson’ emblazoned across the back of it.

“What do you mean, weird?” she asked, turning back around to Olivia.

Olivia shrugged. “I mean, just… there’s something strange about him.”
