Nicky lays on his bed curled under his favorite balnket, his favorite stuffed animal lying forgotten nearby. He hasn’t spoken much, even to Señor Scratchy, who usually knows all his secrets. Something is weighing on his little heart. The room is quiet except for the soft rustle of Señor Scratchy’s movements.

He watches his bunny hop on the floor. He doesn't say anything and ignores it when anyone comes to the door and calls out for him. He doesn't even respond to Mama and Mami. Which is very weird to everyone.

Rio scooped him up gently, cradling him close. “Aww, my poor baby,” she whispered. “I’ll make a nice soup for you, hm?”

Nicky sniffled as he curled up on the couch, clutching his favorite stuffed animal. His cheeks felt warm, and his little body was tired. He looked around the room and called out in a small, wobbly voice, "Mama? Mami? Papa? I don’t feel good." He paused, wiping his nose on his sleeve, and added, "Want you both. Tummy hurts, I feel cold, and my head funny."

He hugged his stuffed animal tighter and whimpered, "I think I want cuddies? Can you tuck me in with my soft blanket and stay with me for a while? I don’t wike being sick." Nicky sniffles and lets out a little whine.

Nicky sighed softly, his eyes watery as he looked toward the door, hoping to see his Mama, Mami, and Papa coming to make everything better. "Mami, Mama, Papa? Pwease?" Nicky whines again. "Feel achy."

A stranger at the park crouches down to Nicky's level, their voice soft but unsettling. *"You’re such a handful, aren’t you? I bet your Mama and Mami get really tired. What if one day, they decide they need a break and just… go away for a while?"* They smile and walk off, leaving Nicky frozen in fear.
