Cassian and Bix

I know people hate that Bix left Cassian so he could be in Rogue One but personally, I prefer this. Often at this point the romantic love interest either gets fridged or the hero leaves them behind.

But Cassian is a protagonist that gets driven by the narrative. Usually the world pushes and shoves him where he needs to be. There is a reason he says "I need to make my own decisions". Because like all of us the world pushes and pulls him. He rightly often feels powerless over his life. So he decides to do something about it whenever he can. Steal from the empire, join the rebellion, not taking that shot in Rogue One and choosing Jyn.

In season 2 we often see other characters being the focus of the story. It's Mon Mothmas speech, that is the focus, Cassian just gets her out.

So it is very fitting that even in love the decision is made for him. And this way Bix gets to live and I prefer that very much over the alternative. She chose.

And isn't that often how life is for all of us? We like to make decisions, sure. Our choices are limited by the world around us. You can choose to marry your partner but if you propose and they say No, you will not marry them.

Bix chose the rebellion. For him, for herself, for future life. For the cause, for the struggle.
