Upd8!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Articles explaining the classes and lunar sway have been added! In addition, the individual class articles have been changed to be more consistent, and fix some buggy HTML.
I'm currently working on the articles for mages and sylphs, which should hopefully be ready soon. We also hit 600 views on the website while I wasn't looking. Have a great week!

Whats your reasoning for having maids be active? I know not everyone takes HS^2 as canon, but theres a page that calls maids passive, which some people take as canon classpecting fact.
I don't have that much on maids, in terms of formal writing/theory, but I've known quite a few, and it's pretty easy to see how self-motivated they all are.
The best way I can explain it is that it's like that stereotype in a lot of Hallmark movies. The busy career woman, so caught up in the rat race that she can't slow down and spend time with the people important to her. There's a lot more depth, and complexity behind their behavior, and it's consequences, but that's a pretty basic way to understand them.
Another way to understand maids is as somewhat of a supercharged version of a page. They have a lot of the same wild aspirations and ambition, but they're not held down by the same issues. They get shit done, and don't need others to help them do it.
Aradia has a lot of that ADHD energy. Even when she's a ghost and super depressed, she's always working on something. She was arguably the most active and important player in her session. It's a bit harder to see with Jane, but it's still there, especially in the epilogues and Homestuck^2 as she becomes more of a boss bitch.

Hello! I’ve been reading your neocities page and was wondering how you pair all of the classes and what your logic is for the ones that aren’t confirmed by canon.
Tumblr media
Here's how I understand how the classes relate to each other. I don't put much stock in canon info, so I'll just explain my logic for all of them.
Maid & Sylph - I associate both of these classes with a lot of intensity, first and foremost. Maids channel it towards their own, personal goals, whatever those may be. Meanwhile, sylphs become very involved with the people around them, to a degree it might be off-putting.
Aradia had her archeology and dreambubble escapades, Kanaya had her weird, confusing auspistices/moirailegances. Especially her "I can fix you" crushes on Vriska and Rose.
Page & Knight - They both have a lot of inner turmoil. A lot of stuff they wish they could change about themselves. Knights keep it all bottled up, and never tell anyone. But pages will vent about their trauma and frustrations to anyone within earshot.
Jake English is the poster child for complaining to someone who doesn't want to hear it. Karkat and Dave both have a lot of inner turmoil, especially related to how they are seen in the context of their societies. Turmoil they don't share with anyone, but leaks out through coolk1d irony and bitching.
Witch & Heir - Both of these classes share the same autopilot when they're around other people. Polite smiles, and basic social etiquette come first. The main difference comes in how they talk. With heirs, they want you to be the center of the conversation, and with witches, they're more likely to talk about themselves. Both are valid approaches.
This is pretty easy to see with John and Jade, I think. They both seem pretty easy to talk to. Especially Johns early pesterlogs with Vriska.
Lord & Muse - This should be pretty obvious. Both of these classes are polar opposites, in a way no other pairs are. Anything a lord would do, a muse would do the exact opposite, and vice versa. They both still command, but lords communicate with an iron fist, forcing people to fall in line through intimidation or charisma. Muses have a more heart-to-heart approach, figuring out what people need, and helping them that way. There can still be bad outcomes from this, however.
Do I need to say it? Caliborn and Calliope are both great examples, especially when they interact with each other.
Mage & Seer - The classes for smart people, essentially. They both share pretty similar speech patterns, where they talk to everyone in a pretty vague, professional-ish tone, with lots of big words and carefully chosen prose. Mages are more serious, and seers are more playful.
Rose definitely displays this more than Sollux or Terezi, but it's kind of hard to tell. Terezi mimics the legal-speak of Alternia pretty accurately, and Sollux is always punctual whenever he's insulting someone. Different cultural norms, I suppose.
Thief & Rogue - Lots of the same "seeing beyond societies rules" in both of them. Which could just as easily be read as "the rules don't apply to me." Thieves revel in this, taking whatever they want and behaving however they want. However, rogues are a lot more subtle, only bending or breaking the rules when they have a plan. Normally, a plan to help someone.
Thieves do to much, rogues don't do enough. Vriska tried to force herself into the narrative for selfish reasons, and paid for it. Roxy and Nepeta both managed to talk themselves out of helping their groups, especially during their sessions. Specifically, reaching out to help Jane and Karkat.
Prince & Bard - They're both oddball classes. As a passive class, bards do want to help people, but that help mainly comes from aimless rambling that's more likely to frustrate than inspire. Princes are self-driven, but they're very likely to self-destruct, and have to rely on the help of others instead. I don't really have anything concrete to point to with this pairing, just that they're both too weird to be paired with anyone else.
It's so hard to use Gamzee as a good example, when he spends half his screentime drunk and the other half possessed. So whatever. Dirk and Eridan are good examples of princes. That's all I've got in me.
I'm working on a similar section for the site, this was a good way to get some initial thoughts down. If you need anything elaborated, please let me know. Thanks for the ask!

As long as my asks are open, feel free to send any questions about classpecting - character analyses, fan sessions, or even if you need help finding your classpect - I'm here to help!
I also have a website, https://rogue-of-light.neocities.org, where I go more in-depth into my theories of classpecting.
