Don't get me wrong though, I, by no means, dislike Rick. I just worry about what I perceived as a behavior-turn, going even more sour, with nobody to pull it back a little.

.... My overall point with these Jerry posts are, his role in the family may have been much more important than people seem to realize. Kinda like how we take stuff for granted, and even mistreat said stuff, until it's gone, or never coming back. I mean, Jerry did seem to be the only person even willing to not do as Rick says. Because this may be shocking, but let's be completely honest here, Rick isn't a good person, and Jerry was an okay counter-balance, keeping the family slightly grounded in normality, even if it was through his own mediocrity, at times. I mean, he wasn't exactly the irrational guy, in this scenario. Everyone is bending backwards for Rick, constantly risking everything. When any normal person would be asking- is it worth it? It seems to me, only Jerry was asking that question- and now, without him as an every-man, who, while dumb at times, was technically in the right about this- who's going to keep the family, with a sense of permanence? Life isn't always some crazy adventure, and having it always be a crazy adventure, affects human beings in very negative ways. Especially when their sense of reality, or reminder of normalcy, can be yanked away at any time, and any place.

Jerry is smarter than people give him credit for (Rick and Morty Theory)

I’ve seen a lot of Rick and Morty Theories about people other than Rick being smart, but I’ve seen almost none involving Jerry. It’s understandable, he certainly isn’t scientifically intelligent or worldly. But I believe he possesses a different kind of intelligence, one that not even Rick has. On to the evidence:

remember when those parasites planted memories in the Smith family’s minds? Jerry was arguably the most affected, having his marriage to his wife erased and replaced with a romantic attachment to Sleepy Gary. But the point of interest lies after his memory is altered, when Sleepy Gary tries to kiss him:

Jerry responds with “Hey we agreed never in the house”, and walks away. Sleepy Gary appears to be saddened by this, even after Jerry left, but why? Wouldn’t he be expecting this response if he planted that agreement in Jerry’s mind? Why did he try to kiss Jerry at all if he knew he would be rejected? My theory is that this small act of defiance was an attempt from Jerry’s subconscious to fight off the fake memories. And it partially worked! While everyone else (even Rick) was completely brainwashed, Jerry’s mind unconsciously fought off the advances of a telepathic alien! I’m not sure what the significance of this is, but I hope it comes up again. If Jerry is able to hold his ground against creatures that Rick can’t then his worth to Rick will greatly increase. Perhaps this will be a catalyst that leads to Jerry going back to live with his family, and Rick learning to be more kind and respectful to him.

tl;dr: Jerry may not be as smart in Rick in terms of logic and science, but his brain was able to partially deflect the telepathic powers of the memory parasites, signifying that he has some sort of intelligence beyond that of even Rick.
