what would be an example of an accidental death??

Accidental deaths are any kind of death that may occur to a player not by the hands of another player (keeping to a Minecraft theme). Examples of an accidental death could be falling off a cliff, being exploded by a creeper, getting trampled by a pack of ravagers, drowning while trying to capture a pet axolotl, etc.

They can range from a standard death to a hyper specific scenario depending on how we’re feeling and what ideas we come up with for them! We’ll try to keep it fun and entertaining but no promises. Plus, you get a small fan work out of it so hopefully it doesn’t feel as bad :D

hi! this is gonna sound stupid but how does the gifting work? are we gifting people from our team? what is the purpose of gifting? is the gifting how we clear our board? im so sorry this is a super cool event and im just incompetent T-T

No worries! So you are right that gifting clears the boards, in that you clear the boards by gifting works that use the tags on the board! This square for example would need to have 9 works posted by your team that either use the tag Au - Pirates or Heists— or both! (That would be two hits on the tag). Every time someone posts a gift with either of these tags in the author's note to your team collection, that number will go down by one for your team. And you're racing the other teams who are also trying to clear their boards!

Once the number drops to zero the mods will let you know if you either hit Treasure (helps you a little bit in the next round) or found a Trap (You need to find and defuse all the traps to clear your board and move to the next round, so that's good).

You gift the work to anyone in the event, either on your team or on the other teams! You can search through the automatic app for requests that have the fandoms and relationships you want to write and who are also requesting at least one tag you want to write, and then you gift them your work with that tag! (Plus you can also add in other tags that they didn't request as long as they didn't say "Don't gift me Heists" for example. That way you can hit more tags at once!)

You gift by adding the person's username in the "gift this work to" box on Ao3, also making sure the work is added to the collection to your team!

And we gift just because it's fun and because it makes sure that everyone gets at least one present during the event! That way even if your team doesn't win, you still get a present— and also just cause it's fun to give gifts!

As of this being posted (2 June, 2025) i am officially one year clean!

last year i was a mess, i was so mad at myself for existing and constantly failing and the only way i felt better was harming myself to remind myself i wasnt worth existing, which i did almost daily

im still a mess now but im better, i have friends who understand and support me and I haven’t lifted a sharp object to my wrist recently

though sometimes i do something and i really want to cut again but i know its not worth it

to anyone who sees this, it does get better, sometimes it takes time, sometimes it gets harder first, and sometimes just having a single person to remind you you’re loved and supported helps <3

hello hermitzine mod! I’m curious what you and the other mods look for when people apply? im aware that this is a difficult process and would like to know what a rough rubric is since I’m still trying to be accepted into a zine! ofc i understand that you and the other mods work really hard to make massive zines like the grian zine that just came out come to life and its really cool :D

Hi, thanks for asking! :D

The overall process definitely varies depending on writer/artist, type of Zine and especially how popular application is (the more applicants = the higher the quality of applications getting rejected) but there are definitely a few things that stood out that are a bit more general in terms of getting accepted:

If you’re an artist, it really helps to showcase both backgrounds and figures in your portfolio. Of course, this again varies depending on the type of zine, but for something like the Grian Zine where your final piece was very likely to include both, it definitely helped to prove that you are confident with both.

Writers: spelling, punctuation and grammar. Before even looking at the quality of the writing, the first impression with writing pieces in portfolios always comes down to SPaG. I can’t stress enough how important proofreading is, because just a few typos could throw off your otherwise perfect portfolio.

Don’t overdo your portfolio pieces — and however many you do, make sure they are consistent. This was a big factor when determining applicants for the Grian Zine, because we ended up with far too many talented people and had to be strict with ourselves when it came to cutting down numbers. Simply put, an inconsistent portfolio shows that your best work isn’t your normal. Choose your portfolio pieces carefully — don’t just add in every art piece and sketch you’ve ever done. Also, adding on to consistency, for artists a distinct art style can really help you stand out.

For artists specifically again, skill when rendering can be another big factor that separates out people. Fully finished, rendered pieces will always look more impressive than sketches, and will also help us, because we don’t have to imagine what sort of final piece you’d create, we can actually see an example.

Keep applying. This one is less of a runic, and more guidance. Different zines will have different applicant numbers, different acceptance numbers, and will be looking for different things. Don’t think that you’re unable to be accepted for a zine just because you’ve been rejected before.

Those are just some I could think of! I’m still fairly new to this, so I would highly recommend checking out other answers to similar question, like the ‘behind the zines’ panel. Good luck for the future!
