Your OC is challenged to contest of strength or skill by someone of surpassing arrogance.

Your OC is asked to lead the first dance at a sophisticated society event or party.
Your OC encounters a beggar or panhandler who requests some money to relieve their many hardships - their story seems genuine, but something feels off...
Your OC is asked by a friend or acquaintance if their new outfit (or armour as the case may be) looks good on them. It really really doesn't...
Your OC is bathing naked - perhaps under a waterfall or in a stream - when a stranger interupts them.
Your OC is asked to make a speech or read a poem at a wedding or funeral.
Your OC stubs their toe and it really hurts.
Your OC is travelling by boat or carriage and a stranger falls asleep on their shoulder.
Your OC is getting into bed when there is a sudden (and very insistent) knocking on their door.
Your OC is lost in a gloomy forest and it's starting to get dark.
Your OC wakes up with a thumping headache and no clear memories of what happened the night before.
Your OC is being lectured, or possibly even scolded, by someone in a position of authority.
Your OC has found something funny and cannot, literally cannot, stop laughing.
Your OC discovers that a rather straitlaced and reserved friend or acquaintance has secret and rather shocking habit, interest or kink.
Your OC finds a lost child in the marketplace or commercial district.
Your OC is training or sparring and someone compliments them.
Your OC is mistaken for a servant or domestic by a rather haughty individual of high social standing.
Your OC is forced, due to a series of unforeseen events, to borrow a set of clothes from a friend or acquaintance that is very far from their usual style.
Your OC discovers that they have a fan club - or at least a following of devoted admirers.
Your OC is watching someone attempt to do something at which they are extremely capable. However the person they are watching really isn't...
Your OC is in company when a remark is made about a race or nation of people that is, at best unkind and inaccurate, and at worst downright bigoted.
Your OC is watching a stage performance by a clown or magician and is called up to the stage in the name of audience participation...
Your OC and a close friend are sharing a room, but there is only one bed. A reasonably-sized bed, but definitely only the one.
Your OC is called upon to recount an embarrassing or comic incident in which they have been involved.
Your OC finds a wallet or coinpurse dropped on the street - a very full one with a lot of money in it.
Your OC goes to the baths or spa in a new city and discovers it is very much communal.
Your OC attends a memorial service or funeral and is asked, unexpectedly, to say a few words about the deceased.
Your OC accidentally breaks the law - or perhaps does so in order to achieve some higher aim - and is challenged by the authorities.
Your OC is gifted some rather racy underwear or beachwear by an admirer or partner.
Your OC finds something they though had been lost forever long ago - perhaps a letter from a friend, a picture of a family member or a souvenir of a even many years before.

I dunno who needs to hear this right now but if u ever feel like ur art sucks/haven't improved/comparing urself to others who u think have improved
GO BACK AND LOOK AT YOUR ART FROM 7-9 MONTHS AGO OR EVEN A YEAR
"But a year is a long time!" Not really, still a pretty short time for your life, a single year, and SO many people improve in that time but just don't see it because they only compare their art at the moment to other people, and not their past works
I have looked at my art from last May and OH MY GOSH THE IMPROVEMENT, That's what I think everyone should be comparing their art to, their old art, and be proud of how much they grew
"But I haven't really improved a lot" But have you figured out different techniques of art in that time? That's still something
You understand colour theory now? That's an improvement
You now know how to shade correctly? Big improvement!
Understand how to animate now, even just the basics? That's a big change, a change you should be proud of
Art takes time, and instead of focusing on other people's art you need to focuse on yours and have fun with it, art should not be a chore
And most people that you see most probably only post art they made that's good to your eyes and their eyes, every artist makes mistakes, and why would they post that? You and the artist you compare yourself are both human, humans make mistakes, except one can hide theirs while yours is always there when you make art, but it's normal, it's a step, you'll improve more and more and get to where you want to be

"this character is so specifically coded as [x] idk how the author can tell us that it was unintentional" tbh most of the time it's probably something a lot simpler than the author being cowardly or duplicitous and not wanting to admit they wrote a certain kind of character, they likely just based that trait on someone they know (or themselves lol) and didn't consciously realize that trait was in any way non-average or implied anything else. it's still free real estate dgmw, if the text suggests that a character is (for example) super mega transgender then the text suggests that character is super mega transgender, but it doesn't necessarily mean the author knew that the text was suggesting that the character is super mega transgender.

Why is it so difficult to convince myself my art deserves to exist
#noodle speaks#I keep making things. I feel not good at making things. I feel embarrassed#I know I have to be bad to get good. I've done this a lot. I'm still shuddering with embarrassment#I still feel shame.#I feel so shameful and obscene#Just trying to make something and not being incredible at it#i feel disgusting#And disgraceful.#It's hard

Okay, after a years of drafting, completly changing the idea, editing, trying to handle mental health and other issues, it is finally happening.
False Gods is here!
You can find the introduction I made long ago here. False Gods is my baby. She is the mix of Gone Girl, Good girls guide to murder, and just a mix of my years living in different fandoms.
It has morally grey women, doomed since the beginning trope, toxic found families and whole lot of crime and chaos.
I would totally appreciate if you would check it out loves. I am just happy it's finally out there.

re: finding platonic explanations for things you cannot even imagine, I'd like to see an aromantic jealousy plot for a change. Character A is seethingly jealous of Character B's love interest but it's not because they're romantically interested in B, it's because they're aro and B is the most important person in their life and this is an unwelcome reminder that they will always come second to a traditional romantic partner in society's eyes and possibly B's as well.
And honestly you don't even need a powerful interpersonal connection to activate Hater Mode. I wasn't that close to any of my middle school classmates and I certainly wasn't interested in them romantically, but I was still so sick of hearing about the boy band guys they had crushes on that I fantasized about Justin Bieber dying in a plane crash. Not my most hinged of moments but idk what to tell you, middle school was a bad time

"He wished that he could break out his knitting, but for some reason, people didn’t take you seriously as a warrior when you were knitting. He’d never figured out why. Making socks required four or five double-ended bone needles, and while they weren’t very large, you could probably jam one into someone’s eye if you really wanted to. Not that he would. He’d have to pull the needle out of the sock to do it, and then he’d be left with the grimly fiddly work of rethreading the stitches. Also, washing blood out of wool was possible, but a pain."
"Paladin's Grace (The Saint of Steel Book 1)" by T. Kingfisher

People often say to me: “You draw like some kind of inhuman machine. If I eat your brain, will I gain your power?” The answer is yes, but there is another way. The key to precise drawing is building up muscle memory so that your arm/hand/fingers do the things you want them to do when you want them to do them. Teaching yourself to draw a straight line or to make sweet curves is just a matter of practice and there are some exercises you can do to help improve. If you’re going to be doodling in class or during meetings anyway, why not put that time to good use?

my best tip for anyone trying to get back into reading is to remember that you can read books to avoid other responsibilities in ur life and it can become a vice if you play your cards right

I've been doing a lot of updating of my project recently. It's been partially a way to keep my heart going during my thesis and because i recently received a spur of "why doesn't my art get seen as much others" jealousy so i'm working my ass off so i have something of a high enough quality that i can send it off to reviewers.
i've redrawn some sprites, planning to draw some more (maybe even today), i've changed all the text on the main itch page, i've added character profiles... i'm really happy about it but i still feel like it's not enough yet. and i'm kinda okay with that. because it'll keep me improving it.
