"yeah... i don't think it'll be easy suing them. But... maybe we can avoid a lawsuit, if the companies pay us to keep quiet on what they're doing. I'll still be the dumbass that lets things slip, and we can get them charged that way, no lawsuit required!"

Rin Kagamine

Age: 25

Gender: Female…?

Backstory: Rin struggles with her self esteem. Yet, her voice is angelic. She was diagnosed with Autism when she was in elementary school. People soon found out, and started babying her. Which she hated. That was when StarKrypt came up to her, asking her if she wanted to join their firm. They told her that she’d be a star. And, she couldn’t refuse. Everyone was annoying her, and being treated like normal was a dream to her. So, she accepted. 

Yet, being a star in training wasn’t a dream. It was a nightmare. StarKrypt wasn’t at all like she had imagined. They worked her to the bone, not relenting. They made her the “Best of the best” by forcefully controlling what she did. Most days, that meant practicing until she was too weak to do so anymore. Her interests ended up changing when she saw the mechanical panel behind one of the older star’s shows. She was mesmerized. StarKrypt often made Miku practice with Rin, but they both enjoyed it. 

When people weren’t looking, they’d make easier dance moves, and talk to each other about their experiences. They shared about their special interests. Miku learned about mechanics, and Rin learned about medicine. Until Rin was fired. Turns out, the company had deemed her as a bad influence on Miku, and let her go. That’s when she found her job at Krypton. They accepted her as a mechanic, and she learned by experience. She was the quietest, and the one that Krypton deemed the ‘most likely not to say anything’. So, she got her job. Not caring about the risks, just happy that she would finally be free.

“... my family.”

BEFORE THE CRASH THOUGHTS:

Miku: they’re like siblings. Miku doesn’t care about Rin’s stutter, or the fact that she sometimes melts down. She doesn’t mind Rin stimming when she’s around. She’s one of the most accepting members on the crew. 

Len: They’re cousins. What else can I say? They’re bonded, through thick and thin. They always play-fight, and the crew loves watching their interactions. It’s a welcome distraction from the tense atmosphere of the ship, and the fact they’re not allowed to do much of anything, under Krypton’s watchful eye.

Kaito: Rin’s motherly instincts kicked in instantly. She immediately got attached to this random kid that she found was her intern. He looked like he didn’t get enough sleep. He looked like he came to escape… something. But, Rin didn’t care about that. She just wanted to make sure that the boy was alright. 

Fukase: he’s a dumbass. An extreme dumbass. But, that doesn’t stop her from finding him funny. Hell, he’s hilarious. He helps take the tension away from any situation, and Rin is thankful for that. He has saved her from a breakdown multiple times. Sure, he may not show it conventionally, but Fukase really cares for everyone.

“... still my family.”

AFTER THE CRASH THOUGHTS

Miku: They have each other’s backs. Miku’s there when Rin needs to vent in a safe place, and Rin’s there when Miku just needs to cry. Miku and Rin aren’t really emotional with anyone else, but when it comes to each other, they see safety. It might be since they know each other inside and out, but, they still are the only people they feel comfortable enough around to speak their mind.

Len: She worries about him, but can barely face him. Seeing her once, so bright sibling, laid up, like he was dying. It hurt her in a way that she didn’t expect. So, she held off her visits. She just couldn’t stand to see him. 

Kaito: Full on mother hen. She refuses to let him get hurt, but still teaches him whatever she can. She cares for him immensely. No matter what, she never lets him leave her side. She’s always wanted someone to care for, like a little brother. And seeing Kaito, she finds her true calling.

Fukase: he’s only ever seen her cry once. That was when he walked into the mechanical room unannounced. Instead of leaving her to be alone, he sat by her side, letting her cry. That was the moment where she knew she could trust him. He didn’t butt in, all he did was give her what she needed. Someone to cry on. Someone to listen, and not judge.

“Why is this- SHIT!”

DEATH:

After Miku died, she was trying to get into the medical room through the vent. She bokned into something, and the foam expanded, suffocating her.

KAGAMINE LEN

Age: 39

Gender: Male…?

ABOUT LEN:

Len is an extremely supportive cousin to Rin. People often mistake them for brother and sister, but they’re cousins. He was supportive when Rin got into the StarKrypt firm, bringing her dream of stardom to light. He was also supportive when, out of her own volition, She left the firm because she didn’t like the way they were treating their employees. Len doesn’t know about this. So, he ended up taking a job on the VStar, run by Krypton. Their mascot was based off one of the stars that StarKrypt brought to light. Len’s wary of that fact. He’s looking into if StarKrypt is connected with Krypton at all, and he’s getting close to finding out.

He does his investigating off of company time, so they don’t catch him. Because, he’s brought up evidence that proves that Krypton was mistreating their employees. He plans, or planned to, sue Krypton with all this evidence, so that he and  the rest of the crew could live off the grid, like the big family they were. Not needing to worry about any sort of expenses. They could all be happy. Yet, that day never came.

Len often struggled with asking for help. He always kept his problems to himself, but the crew was helping him with that. Something that stemmed from his childhood, (which will be talked about in a fanfic later), that he couldn’t control. Yet, there he was, getting the help he needed. 

“They’re my family. I wouldn’t trade them for the world”

BEFORE THE CRASH

Miku: he could clearly see the bags under her eyes every day, and how she actively avoided music that was from the firm StarKrypt. He could sense the unresolved trauma radiating off of her. So, he did his best to avoid any sort of triggers. He paused his playlists when she came into the room, and never talked about any sort of music. They became best friends.

Rin: They’re cousins. What else can I say? They’re bonded, through thick and thin. They always play-fight, and the crew loves watching their interactions. Kaito: Kaito’s a goddamn child! Why would Krypton let him on the ship? He knew that Rin would take good care of him, but he was still worried. He kept a close eye on Kaito, and often let him slack off. After all, he was a child. He didn’t deserve to be trapped in this environment of tenseness and stress.

Fukase: “I regret ever calling him fuckass”. Len said, as more and more drawings of him as a banana kept popping up on the ship. He now had the ever-so-affectionate nickname, “Banana man.” He didn't want to admit it, but he loved that stupid nickname to bits. Hell, on the communal birthday party they threw, Len even dressed up as a Banana. Everyone was laughing, and having a good time. There ended up being more secret parties, so that everyone could have a birthday. To keep some semblance of normal on the ship.

“You guys are worrying me.”

AFTER THE CRASH:

Miku: he notices her struggles immediately. How she cried in the medical room when she thought he was asleep. How she was slowly losing the sparkle in her eyes, her once rosy face became paler by the day. How she was barely able to sleep at night. He did his best to comfort her, yet to no avail. She was the one to gather the crew around him as he died, of an infection that they couldn't cure.

Rin: Rin stayed in the mechanical room most of the time, not coming to visit him. They lost their bond, yet Len still wanted to gain it again. Only when he died, did Rin ever cry. It was a sight to see.

Kaito: Len didn’t want Kaito to see him die. Yet, he was surprised when Kaito hugged him, crying. He didn’t want to lose a father figure in his life, and Len sure as hell didn’t want to leave Kaito, with all the stress of helping to run a ship without a captain.

Fukase: it was the first time that he had ever seen Fukase cry. When he was digging Len out of the foam, realizing his arm was obliterated. He didn’t know that Fukase knew anything about amputation, until he properly amputated Len’s arm, to save him from death. That was the only time Len, or anyone, had seen Fukase cry. When he died, Fukase held his hand, smiling. That was the first time that Fukase called him by his name. It made him feel so sad.

“I’m sorry, everyone”

DEATH: He died in the medical ward, from an untreatable infection in his muscles. He was struggling with holding on, and only when everyone had said goodbye, did he officially pass on.

MIKU: THE MEDIC

Miku was 23 when she boarded the Tulpar. 

Miku was easily one of the smartest kids in her school. During her free time, she’d always be reading books on medicine, and practicing on the mannequins she found in the dump. Her true passion was medicine. Yet, her hobby was to sing, and make songs. Her career could have gone either way. Yet, someone chose for her. A talent scout, coming to the middle schools, looking for promising students. Immediately found, Miku was taken out of school and put in intensive training to be a star. She hated it, but at least she had time to practice her medicine skills, and more books and materials. She was happy. Until fourteen years old. That’s when her debut came. She slowly started to get more and more famous, and soon she was playing at stadiums, for thousands upon thousands of her fans. It was magical, for the first couple years. Then, came the crowds of people following her every move. It started to get too overwhelming. Instead of releasing more songs, she turned most of her attention to her medical studies, and learned almost everything to know about medicine, and first aid. 

This came in use many times at her concerts, when people overheated, were trampled, or were seriously injured. People soon came to respect her even more, and she became even more famous. She was known as Medical Miku, simply because she was a medical whiz. 

More time passed, and she was getting burned out. Unable to remember the last interaction that she had before she was famous, she needed a break. She announced that she would be taking a break, and took the job aboard the Tulpar as their medical professional. Pony express was quite weirdly accepting, without asking any more questions. That immediately put her off, but it was a chance to get to know people that might not know who she was. She would take that damn chance whether she liked it or not.

“Well, they’re all great in their own ways!”

BEFORE THE CRASH THOUGHTS:

Len

-She respects him, he was one of the main reasons that she got the job in the first place. He advocated for her to get aboard the Tulpar, before she even applied.

-He’s more like a brotherly figure to her, because he treats her normally, people haven’t done that for a long time. 

Rin

-She recognized her from when her same firm made them train together

-they’re already the best of friends, even though they’ve barely even met. Rin and Miku often spend downtime in the mechanical room, talking about show memories, and the time they spent with their firm.

Kaito

-Immediate bond

-A big sister figure to him, he’s a little brother figure to her. 

-They play the video games that she snuck on together. Mostly Mario Kart, or Stardew Valley. When she’s busy, she lets Kaito have her switch. She brought endless power banks for it lol

Fukase

-They have a stable relationship

-He plays pranks on her. Though she doesn’t like it that much, she tolerates it. It lightens up the mood on the ship, and she’s all for that

“They might be idiots, but they’re my idiots”

AFTER THE CRASH THOUGHTS

Len: 

-losing an arm has taken a toll on everyone. But, miku especially. Seeing him without an arm brings up a bad memory of one of her concerts, when she couldn’t save a fan from amputation because she came on the scene too late. She doesn’t like to remember it. Yet, she stays by Len’s side.

-they’re still pretty close, and have gotten much closer.

Rin:

-Miku always has Rin’s back. Especially since she’s struggling as much as Miku is. Whenever the rest of the crew are asleep, they often talk to each other about the days passed, and reminisce about their time on earth. 

-they’ve grown closer, to the point where they are inseparable. 

Kaito:

-she keeps him close. She doesn’t want to lose anyone, but he has so much of a life left to live. She doesn’t want him to die on the Tulpar, no one does. 

-they still play their games together, though most of the time it’s just Mario Kart, it helps them both take their minds off of the crash.

Fukase:

-he’s mellowed out quite a bit. He’s more concerned about everyone else, instead of himself.

-they’ve gotten a bit closer, but she still keeps her distance.

DEATHS:

After Len’s death from an infection that she couldn’t treat, she fell into a depressed state. She wouldn’t play games with Kaito anymore, and decided to end her own life.

Fukase looked at Jimmy through the screen. Then, he looked at Len, who was trying not to cry. He hugged len gently, letting the blonde's face rest in the redhead's shoulders. Instantly, Len started to silently cry, unable to control his emotions.
