This Final Fantasy VII AU we have in our head is starting to get too big... About to make a doc and maybe even a sideblog for it... This might be the first time we actually properly talk about an AU on here. It's a little nerve wracking. It's centered around events after Advent Children and an OC of ours. Oh yeah, and the remnants came back. Now if you'll excuse us, we gotta go think of a name for this stupid thing, it's actually giving us a headache-

Also, while on the topic of Monster Hunter Wilds character stuff, here's our actual character:

Front and back view, mostly so we can also come back for the pictures in case we need the references. His name is Vacar, and as you can see, we leaned heavily into the black and red color scheme. We also had fun with the face paint. Currently have to get a different helmet we like, though, because we got the bone helmet but it covers his beautiful face and hair 😭 As cool as the bone helmet looks, we want to see his face more

So we kinda did it! Sort of... not the greatest, but we're tired and also obvious customization limits. We decided to kinda just get a rough idea for the face. Or, well, faces because we decided to do all three XD

Starting with Yazoo, the one we originally wanted to do:

Unfortunately, there wasn't any hair long enough that was straight and Yazoo with wavy/curly hair felt strange so this was the best we got. By far the closest of the three we made lol. Also fun fact, we named our Palico after him because we decided on an all white fluffy one since we were being indecisive

And then we got Loz:

He's probably the second closest, but he doesn't have his swoop or his sideburns and it's an absolute tragedy. He mostly just looks like a green eyed Vergil from Devil May Cry.

And then Kadaj:

Or as we shall call him, literally just V from Devil May Cry. The hair was the closest thing we could find to his actual hair. The fact he looks exactly like V is literally the hairs fault.

We might go through and do more. Might. In all honesty, despite not sleeping yet, this might be the best we can do. We've never been good with human character customization and trying to make something that looks like the actual character we're trying to make.

Thank you! Things have been a bit rough lately, but our birthday was nice enough :P Had a bit of fun and even found out that the 8th book of Wings of Fire's graphic novel was released and we got it! (we don't know when it released, we just found out while at Walmart, but we didn't know it was already out, we could've sworn it was releasing later XD)

Quick doodle of Kadaj (well, supposed to be Kadaj) but shadow creature because why not? Drawing humans is difficult :(

His hair turned out a little poofier than we wanted it to... Don't think it's too horrible, though, especially for a first attempt at drawing something human. This is what happens when you put your drawing points into dragons only.

Anyways, most of the reason we decided to draw Kadaj is because he's haunting us. In all actuality, it's probably us hallucinating (probably from lack of sleep) or just weird lighting at where we work. But Kadaj haunting the gas station we work at is much funnier than sleep deprivation, so we're going with that one lmao

Thank you so much for these! We're definitely thinking of going back through and rewatching the movie for a few extra references, too :) These will help greatly, though!

Because you seem like the person to ask... Do you have any good reference images of the remnants? We want to practice drawing humans, and have decided to do so with some of our favorite characters, but we are very bad at looking for references- They'd also be useful for potential AU ideas that have been rattling around in our head

Pictures of Loz are harder to get so if you're really struggling, I recommend rewatching the movie and pausing in places you can see his full body.

A general tip: All of their coats are the same from the waist up, so once you get that down (which you can learn quickly from Kadaj screenshots), you can draw them on all three. Happy drawing!

And also, just wanna say, you were part of the reason we wanted to watch AC (besides just really wanting to watch it for at least the experience). You invaded our for you page randomly with posts about the remnants and made us want to see it for ourselves even more :) Thank you for that, it was one of the few times we actually sat through a movie on our own time.

We expected Kadaj to be our favorite and he is our favorite appearance-wise, we love his design, but we think Yazoo's character won us over XD Yazoo's a freaking gremlin sometimes and we love him for it. He's enjoying himself. And throwing it in there that we like Yazoo's laugh. We like Yazoo, maybe we'll just leave it at that lmao. Also, Loz telling Yazoo not to cry and immediately crying not even 10 seconds later will never not be funny to us-

Overall, we had fun watching it! Was fun to actually get to see it and not just random little clips. Yazoo's definitely our overall favorite remnant now XD

We also can't be the only ones who think Reno and Yazoo would be perfect for each other if they weren't enemies, right? They match each other's energy surprisingly well-

Laughter as they set up their Christmas tree. The rich smell of Angeal's dumbapple pie baking. Mulled wine lulling them into a raw kind of comfort. Carefully wrapped presents. Genesis reading holiday poems. Angeal plating their food and insisting they eat more. Just three friends who formed their own family. Understanding for the first time what a real Christmas means.

Vs.

Sephiroth spending Christmas alone after they're gone. Empty quarters with no decorations. A single wine glass from a bottle Genesis bought long ago, tasting even more bitter on an empty stomach. Knowing exactly what he's missing now. Angeal's cooking recipes untouched, tucked in an old poetry book that used to belong to Genesis. Understanding too well why people dread being alone on Christmas. The knowledge of warmth making the cold bite sharper. Two neatly wrapped presents bought early, a year prior when he still had people to give them to.

i am all of me is the introduction song to the game shadow the hedgehog released in 2005, written and performed by crush 40. the song represents shadow's internal feelings after being woken up with no memories as amnesia struck him again. underneath the "edgy" lyrics and VERY different style than what crush 40 was known for at the time, the feelings and emotions shadow had at the time are very prevalent, most notably in the chorus "can you see all of me? / walk into my mystery / step inside and hold on for dear life / do you remember me? / capture you or set you free / i am all, i am all of me!" shadow is asking those who say they knew him (rouge, sonic, amy, the chaotix, etc) about who he is. to himself, he is a mystery, he doesn't know every part of himself. the others do, they know his past and the things about him he can't remember for the life of him this song also presents the "hero and villain" themes of shadow the hedgehog (2005), and it's neutral "i choose my own destiny" path, mentioned in the "black-hearted evil / brave-hearted hero / i am all, i am all, i am" lines. the bridge of the song can also be seen as a sort of identity crisis if you read too much into it (like i do) "i am / i am everyone, everywhere / anyhow, anyway, any will, any day / i am / i am everyone, everywhere / anyhow, anyway, any will, any day / i am (i am, i am) / i am (i am, i am)" shadow trying desperately to figure out who he is, being essentially "anyone" as, well, if he isn't him (he would remember who he is if he was him) then who is he if not anyone else? anyways! to make a long damn infodump short, i am all of me is the best song in video game history as it's the perfect representation of shadow's mentality in shadow the hedgehog (2005) and his descent into an identity crisis. vote i am all of me!

I will perish on that hill: Sephiroth being awkward around kids, hesitant to engage because his memories of that age are painful.

Sephiroth treating children with respect and genuine care, wishing someone had treated him like that when he was young.

Sephiroth answering every child's question no matter how absurd with earnest interest and thoughtful replies.

Sephiroth noticing a school group on a Shinra HQ field trip and coming across a lost little kid who wandered off from the group.

Sephiroth gently taking the child's tiny hand, mother-henning them and calmly assuring it's all okay as he tries to reunite them with their class.
