The first one is pure anger and defiance. His eyes are saying “fuck you and your gun, you can kill me, but you can’t kill the rebellion”.

The second one is more along the lines of “alright, calm down now, we can work this out, you don’t want to be the dude that pulls a gun on me”. He’s negotiating, considering his next step carefully and projecting vunerability to bide his time.

Gallardo actually has some power and some options at his disposal, but only one of these dudes is actually afraid of dying, and it ain’t Cassian.
