(Instinctively, the Lizard wraps their arms around the Poet, trying their best to comfort them.)
"Poet, oh poet..."
(They rub their back in an attempt to reassure them.)
"It's okay. I promise. I— You're not crazy. This isn't normal. This isn't normal!"
(Tears start forming in the corners of their eyes. Seeing you like this...)
(They tighten their embrace on the poet slightly. At the same time, the wind around them grows stronger.)
"I don't know if you'll count me as a god. But seeing as I've been changed and damaged enough by this damned Crown, I think I'm close enough."
"I'm here. I've heard your plea. You claim your actions are nigh unforgivable—even so, you don't deserve to suffer like this!"
(Tears flow freely as waterfalls from their eyes.)
"Death is not—will never be—the only way out. Trust me, for I've tried. I don't care what you've done, I will be here for you."
"I always will be."
"We'll find a way."
"We'll find a way..."
(At that moment, a light rain falls upon the two. The Lizard loosens their embrace, but still tries to comfort them.)
Outside the poet's residence, a light drizzle sets in. The pitter-patter of droplets on the roof creates a comforting sort of atmosphere.
Looking at the ground outside, the poet notices a few dry spots scattered about.
Actually, scratch that.
It looks more like a trail.
How the hell...?
The trail seems to wind all around the area, stopping near the entrance to the poet's house.
The dirt above it shifts slightly.

(...after a moment, taking a look up from whatever it was they were doing, it was something to do with a book, they curiously head outside.)
(After all, the worst that could happen would be death, and we must know how that tends to go by now.)

"Poet..."
The Lizard winces somewhat at the mention of paralysis.
"I understand the feeling. All too well."
"That feeling of losing yourself, I..."
They hesitate, like they were about to say something before deciding against it.
A shaky sigh escapes their lungs. "If you need anything... I can try and provide it. I might not be the best with words, but I want to help in any way I can."

"Well... it might be an intuition thing," the Lizard reasoned, "like how we learn language through exposure." They sit down on the ground, cross-legged.
"Though, that is only true for children... never mind."
They think for a moment.
"If you understand it, does it say, like, good things? Bad things? Neutral... things?"

"Talking..."
"I've had a few amulets in my possession before, and none of them... whispered stuff to me?"
"Or mine just didn't like me, I dunno."
"What sort of things does it say?"

The Lizard nods solemnly.
"My condolences, poet."
"I apologize for bringing it up."
The lizard sighs. "So much has changed..."
"If I may ask, what does that..." they point to the amulet around their neck. "What does it do? I sense... something off of it. I'm not sure what exactly what that 'something' is, though."

"Oh, I'm doing... alright, I suppose."
"If you'd like, we can talk about it? Up to you, though."
They stretch their arms.
"This height is going to take a lot of getting used to..."
The amulet they're wearing draws the Lizard's attention. It squats down, analyzing its details.
(It definitely just blinked.)
"...Where'd you get that?" The Lizard asks, pointing to the amulet.

The familiar crown shoots up out of the dirt, hovering a foot above the ground Its glowing eye narrows at the poet. Not in an intimidating way, but more of a... confused way?
A muffled voice speaks out under the dirt.
"Why I ought'a..."
"Get back here, ya stupid piece of...!"
In a split second, a figure leaps out of the ground, snatching the Crown out of the air.
"Hah! Gotcha, thought you could get me to—"
The Lizard cuts themself off, realizing there's another person in front of them.
"Uh... hi?"
The Lizard looks... a lot different.
Notably, they're now almost 7 feet tall.
Oh gods.
After uncomfortably staring them down, the Lizard finally recognizes the person in front of them.
"...Poet? Oh my gods, how've ya been!?"
The rain slows to a halt, and the sunlight flows back throughout the area. The crown settles on their head, changing form into a sunhat.
Outside the poet's residence, a light drizzle sets in. The pitter-patter of droplets on the roof creates a comforting sort of atmosphere.
Looking at the ground outside, the poet notices a few dry spots scattered about.

As the poet steps closer, the dirt shakes erratically. Upon closer inspection, there looks to be a Crown sticking out of the ground.
Its eye is closed, but it still emits this aura of familiarity.
What is it doing here...?
