I am deeply in love with how deeply in love Brennan is with Critical Role. He wrote his buddy a love letter and created a raccoon trap to get him to experience it and I think that's beautiful.

Dropping another thought for WBN ep49, The New World.
Steel is a veteran soldier, a grown woman, a powerful mage, THE Sword of the Citadel. And she is like "Nobody came for me! I didn't get help, so why should I feel sorry for those kids? There's a cost to pay for the better world!" feels so emotionally immature in general, but especially discordant given that before her conversation with Suvi, we experience that moment between Eursulon and Nif.
Nif, an orphan herself, left alone by society and then even by Indri, that was technically a caretaker for her, given she was so young. Nif, that despite her experience, acts in order to prevent what happened to her to happen to eighty more kids.
Steel has the power of the Citadel behind her, commands one of the most powerful engines of war the Tower has ever crafted and has made herself a spell capable of erasing a bloodline.
Nif has a cottage, a bunch of villagers, a pen and paper.
You think you would guess who feels powerless between the two if you didn't know the context, but you'd guess wrong. When you think you are powerless you act as such, whether you wield a sword or a pen.
But that's why people wield weapons at the end of the day, no matter the reason why they do it, protection, oppression, needless cruelty. Because without them they feel powerless. Why would someone wield a weapon against something if not because they are scared of what's in front of them, of something that could be taken away from them?
If you think you need a sword and status and power and still say "I can't do anything about the bad things that happen", that's the most tragic statement in all of existance. Because you think that without those you are and will always be nothing, allowing the perception that you have of yourself to hurt others, throwing the world inside the cage of pain you built around yourself.
What does it take for a person to be able to wield a pen and paper in the face of weapons and suffering and say "I can do something about this"?
No matter what kind of better world you think you want or you're building, if you feel like the only solution is to point literal and figurative weapons against pen and paper, you have already given up and no better world will ever satisfy you, because you never truly believed in it in the first place and you never truly believed in you deserving it.
Nif just had to spend time in a healthy and nurturing environment giften to her by Ame to realize "Oh! These wonderful things called self-worth and empathy! I have them! And the best part is, me being well helps the people around me too!" The power of the World's Heart beats strong up in here.
I love this story so much.

So many thoughts and feelings about the latest WBN episode 46!
The wind/breath theme is really reaching a peak here, in so many different ways!
For starters, I absolutely love what Lou was doing with Eursulon, holding his breath as he looks out into the wastelands.
And then Brennan with that speech, as Eursulon steps into his purpose of Freedom. That was incredibly masterful. Painting such a powerful picture and with such a strong tether to wind, like in the "wind in your wings", the force that can support you. I felt myself breathing more deeply just listening to that bit.
And I love how it ties into the Studio Ghibli of it all. Brennan has talked about this at some point, the recurring theme of wind in Ghibli movies as this powerful and emotional part of the story telling, and I love the translation of that into breath in WBN. Feels very appropriate to have this big moment with Eursulon tied into this theme. We've been hearing them talk on the fireside a lot about what Ghibli movies Ame vs Suvi are experiencing. I feel like this was that version for Eursulon, and he's the Miyazaki wind in every setting.
And I haven't even mentioned what beautiful things Taylor did with the score here! The French horns! Wow! Very appropriate as a wind instrument, more brassy than the flutes we hear for the Great Bear but not as brassy as the citadel marching band sounds. Feels very representative of how Eursulon bridges the gap between the two worlds here, and it sounds so stunning and uplifting.
And in full contrast to that we hear the behemoth sounds of the dreadnoughts. To me that sound they make is kinda in between breath and machinery. They are flesh and alive, and so they draw breath and presumably have spirit in them somewhere. But from what little we know of them so far they see like some sort of abomination, barely lifeforms, and so they sound a bit less like they're breathing and screaming and more like war machinery clunking and screeching. Delicious and horrifying, thanks Taylor!
Anyways, if you've read all the way to here thank you and hi!
My head is full of WBN and I had to get some of it out, however incoherently :)
