TIL in 1896 a temporary, one-day city was named in Texas called Crush, where two locomotives were to be smashed head-on for purposes of spectacle. It was, for a few hours, the 2nd largest city in TX with 40k attendees. The collision caused engine boilers to explode, resulting in death and injuries.

The Sailor Jupiter
There’s a lot of things we should (and hopefully will, one day…) say about Sailor Jupiter, the character. But let’s just stick with this for now: she’s great. To one half of weeaboozing, she’s the best. She’s a tall lady who is introduced by tossing a rude boy over her shoulder like it ain’t fuck, introducing a level of bad-assery that she keeps up throughout the series.
oh and she loved flowers and cooking for her friends and pretty dresses and romance. She was tough as fuck, but that didn’t stop her from being cute, or vulnerable. She rules.
This drink tastes sweet without being cloying, and gains sophistication from the herbal bitterness of the green tea, especially when combined with the mint+lime of a traditional mojito. The hint of floral from the rosewater was just…c’mon. There’s gotta be a rose element.
also worth noting that it’s the tallest of our sailor moon cocktails. (idc if like four other characters are canonically taller than jupes IN MY MIND AND HEART SHE TOWERS OVER EVERYONE ELSE LIKE THE ATHENA SHE IS)
anyway here’s the recipe:
Cold Brewed Green Tea
makes enough for 3 Sailor Jupiters (although you really should brew extra)
3 tsp loose leaf green tea
1.5 cups cold water
Add tea and water to a glass pitcher with a filter or a very clean french coffee press. In a pinch, use a mason jar and a fine-mesh strainer. In a super-pinch, use a glass that fits your cocktail strainer and a piece of plastic wrap. Put it in the fridge and let steep for 3 hours (or up to…. honestly like a week, it won’t over-steep and it probably won’t kill you?).
The Sailor Jupiter
Makes 1 cocktail.
A lot of fresh mint (at least 10 leaves)
2 tsp sugar
1 oz lime juice
2 oz white rum
3 oz iced green tea
Club soda
Rosewater in a spray bottle.
Add mint leaves and sugar to the bottom of your cocktail shaker and muddle gently – you want to release the mint flavour but not to totally macerate the leaves. Add lime juice and stir into the minty sugar. Add rum and ice and shake until your shaker is cold to the touch.
Strain into a highball glass. Add ice to the glasses, then add iced green tea. Stir very gently, then top with club soda. Spritz with rosewater.

redid my 1890’s naval officer Sailor Uranus design from a couple years back!
I’ve always felt like I really missed the mark when it came to capturing Haruka’s effortless rakishness on the first pass, and I wasn’t about to let that happen AGAIN
