Weekly Blog Post 20 Here is an interesting instagram page I follow. I like it because it looks consistent, yet each image makes you look at it a little longer. Each image gives us a cool view into a clear globe that forces us to shift our perspective. Hence the name.

Weekly Blog Post 19 A picture I took a few days ago. The colors amazed me. The transition from blue to gold looks very nice. Taking pictures of sky's in photography are so cliche, but having a sort of color gradient makes it that much more interesting.

Weekly Blog Post 18 A picture I took of Melanie(my cat). She is so fun to photograph because she loves to stare right into the camera. For this picture I layed on the floor to give a unique perspective. I have recently challenged myself to take pictures from different perspectives and lieing on the floor was my choice of preference. You should try to take pictures while lieing on your back, you'll be surprised at the results!

Weekly Blog Post 17
Some images taken by Dorothea Lange from an article that describes some of the experiences of Japanese Americans in the internment camps. The things that the Japanese Americans had to go through is really messed up. People of all ages, kids to the elderly, had to be put in camps just because they looked like the Japanese. Apparently, many of these images were censored by the government. This just shows that the government knew that what they were doing would be looked at as wrong.
Check out more of these images here http://www.americansuburbx.com/2016/01/dorothea-lange-japanese-internment.html

Weekly Blog Post 16
These photos are a couple of images from an article that outlines the conditions that some people have in Guatemala. The article explains that there is a “Civil War” going on. Making the area for the people very dangerous. The 2 girls in the picture are getting water from an area that was used as a war zone. The picture of the 3 guys are a sort of civil defense force. The boys on the right and left seem really young. This article made me feel bad for the people living there. The young boys and girls have to live in these dangerous conditions until the fighting stops. Hopefully the future for these children will be better.

“The burden that any portrait photographer carries is the expectation to capture the totality of an individual within a single image”
This article was about a book: Duane Michals: Portraits. The portraits themselves are really nice. But it was this quote from the article that really stood out to me. I found a certain relatable feeling when I read this quote about taking portraits of people. Taking good, meaningful portraits are difficult for me. I honestly thought that I was the only one who suffered from the inability to to capture the “totality of an individual within a single image”. This quote reminds me that a lot of portrait photographers struggle with this as well. I’m willing to bet that even the greatest portrait photographers suffer from this from time to time. Read this article if you get a chance.

Final Project Proposal Change: 20 Images
My original project was going to be centered around me. I was going to to shoot self portraits, and show who I am as a person. But, I found it difficult to create 20 images that would be cohesive and do a good job in showing who I am. So, I decided to change my project.
My new Project Proposal theme summary: to take 20 images of 20 random strangers. I wanted them to be portraits, and not candid. Also, I had asked each of my subjects the question: “What would you do with a million dollars?” I documented their response and I am going to include their quotes with their portrait in the book.
I chose this as my project because I wanted to challenge myself in taking portraits, as well as taking pictures of random strangers. It was quite nerve racking having to force myself to talk to random strangers, but the more strangers I went up to, the easier it got. This was a great learning experience; getting out of my comfort zone was hard, but now I realize that as a photographer , in order to get the best shots, I have to put myself out there.

http://www.americansuburbx.com/2017/11/christopher-barr-interview-a-very-public-death.html
This article blew my mind. Death is a very serious topic that not a lot of people like to talk about, but this interview, along with pictures, gives us a glimpse of what it means to die. Many people don’t know when they are going to die, but some people do. Whether its because they have cancer that can’t be treated, or a sickness that doctors can’t get rid of, some people know that they are going to die sooner than later. This article showed the joinery of this guys’ journey to death. It was amazing to see the guys transparency, and willingness to be photographed. Check out the article to read more about it.

Weekly Blog Post 13: Tatsuo Suzuki
A couple of photos from the collection by Tatsuo Suzuki. His work is amazing. I love his pictures of people, and how he uses a slower shutter speed to get a blurry image. It creates a sense of movement for the people in Tokyo. I also like how he uses the real expressions of these people. None of the images feel scripted or modeled. He creates a sense of vulnerability about his subjects, and gives us an insight on who these people might be. You guys should check out his work here --->>> https://www.lensculture.com/articles/tatsuo-suzuki-tokyo-street-vision-and-fascination#slideshow

Weekly Blog Post 12 I took this picture in the industrial tech building at Fresno State. All the lines with the shadows create a sense of movement. The lines make my eye go in a sort of a triangle motion. I am always looking for unique things here at Fresno State, and I am very pleased with the way this image turned out.

20 Images Project
Project Title: I am Angel
I spend a lot of time behind my camera. But for this project I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and be in front of the camera. I never really do self portraits because I just feel weird. Growing up I hated when my parents would take pictures of me, I felt insecure and never understood why they wanted pictures of me so badly. But now that I am older I understand that having portraits/pictures of myself is important. When I am older I want to be able to see the pictures of myself and think of all the old memories. This project will be a learning experience. I will get the perspective of being the model, rather than the director. This will hopefully teach me to be a better photographer because now I will have both perspectives of being both the model and the photographer.

Weekly Blog Post 11 This book called Desert Cantos, is extremely interesting. This shot of the road really caught my eye. It is one of many shots that show us parts of this desert. I really like this book because it gives me a view of a place that I would never otherwise see. I really like the style of this book, the editing and colors look really nice. The book also goes through 4 different types of the desert: The Terrain, The Event, The Flood, The Fires. Each section has his own distinct style, yet it looks great as a whole in the book.

Weekly Blog Post 10 This book by Vincent Cianni really caught my eye. The image of the city is amazing! It shows a nice panorama type shot that give the reader a nice context on where the pictures were taken. The subjects he used in his books are intriguing because they are just ordinary people. He is able to give us a perspective of this city and the people within it.

Weekly Blog Post 9: Peter McKinnon Peter M. is a photographer that I follow on YouTube and instagram. He has many tutorials for photographers that help with editing and other related photography topics. He has a very nice style: nature, self portraits, and blue hues are his main things included in his work. He is one of my inspirations for photography. If you have never heard of him check it him out!

Weekly Blog Post 8: Brandon Woelful Brandon W. is one of my favorite portrait photographers. He has created his own unique style: blue and pink hues, women models, lights, and creative backgrounds. His style has become so distinct that many people try to replicate his images. Personally I think he is an amazing portrait photographer, if you have never seen his work you should check it out.
