Which honestly never made sense. Jen left of her own accord and thus Emma wasn’t in the season. It’s natural that there would be more heroes and more magical destinies and more... blonde women with shitty pasts? Than just her. It’s not a replacement to continue on.

I still don’t get why so many “Emma fans” (in quotes because it was not actually a fan thing and we all know it) took issue with Alice, considering Emma wasn’t even the only Savior we met, so “Chosen One with magical destiny” should really not be anything new.

I’ve noticed too that it’s only certain characters that the fandom just can’t seem to handle having the same name as other characters. We can easily tell which Neal is being talked about and we know the characters do too, same with which Liam and which Regina and which Cinderella, yet Killian needs a new name and Robin needs to spell her name differently or else the whole universe is going to fall apart in confusion.

Yes. Yes, true. 

I understand in writing fics sometimes it’s easier to use a nickname in some situations to differentiate. That’s totally fine. But permanently renaming?

I somehow didn’t notice Robin whisper “mom” when she saw SB!Zelena, and now I’m in pain, because, while Margot did see "Kelly” off when she left, Robin as herself hasn’t really seen her mother in two years, and the last time they were themselves, Zelena was going off to confront a psychopathic witch coven that had already tried to kill them both before.

Even as recently as 7x21 we were complaining about Robin and Alice briefly forgetting to use each other’s “real” names...

I think part of the resistance to saying that Wish Hook should go by Rogers is also that every time someone who knew Snow before the curse called her Mary Margaret we all felt like it was weird and wrong.

I think it’s important that when Rumple physically puts himself between his Wish Realm self and the other four people in that room, those four people represent everything Rumple has ever done stupid betrayal shit for in the past.

Seriously, think about who those four people are.

Henry, “the boy who will be his undoing”, who long ago he swore to kill but never could quite do it because he’s his grandson, his last true link to the son who he took on all this darkness for in the first place.

Killian, the closest thing he ever had to a friend, the only living human who knew the man he was before, and who has been locked in a vengeance cycle with him ever since... but the Wish Realm version of him, who Rumple has truly become friends with, over a mutual respect.

Alice, the Guardian, who could’ve taken away all that immortality and power that he spent so long maintaining, who could’ve gotten him back to the woman he loved, but who he spared from taking on his curse so she could be with the woman she loved.

Robin, the daughter of the woman who killed his son, whose happiness he put above his own alongside Alice’s.

The four people in that room, who he stands in front of, who he dies for, are representative of every single goddamn moment of weakness in Rumple’s life. But he saves them. And in doing so, the universe rewards him.

Rumple vaulting over the dining table to throttle his darker counterpart with his bare hands when he sees what he’s done to his friends was an epic moment. Just that seething anger and sense of ‘oh, no you fucking don’t: you’re not getting away with this’ element to it. And that he couldn’t be calm enough to walk around the table and confront him. No, he had to be dramatic about it. Even mortal, even, seemingly, stripped of magical power, Rumple is dramatic :)

I have to get a little something off my chest. It might be the final nail in the coffin of the ship for me, but I won’t know that for sure until the rewatch in June and hopefully when some louder members of the fandom quiet down. Negativity kept under the cut, I am not using anyone’s gifs who hasn’t offered on their own because I don’t want anyone else’s names looped in with this without their consent, and know that any rude anons that don’t open up a healthy discourse will be deleted. Given that Zelena found out about them when Robin was five, I think it’s safe to assume that the “young love” thing was intended to be playful/joking.

NOT ONLY did Rumple jump the desk out of rage for what W!R did to Killian and then sacrifice his life to save him, he also physically put himself between W!R and three of the kids he loves most (Henry, Alice, and Robin) to protect them when W!R starts moving towards them.

For me that’s what makes the most sense, yeah, because the Wish Realm didn’t originally exist. For everyone else, becoming real isn’t much of an issue. Magic is a powerful thing, and we’ve seen it create viable life before (it cannot raise the dead, but I believe I recall instances of people being formed from non “traditional” means before). But the Dark One? That magic cannot exist in true duplicate any more than there can be more than one Emma. They’re just too powerful.

You know, I actually wonder if maybe it’s not that all of the Wish characters are connected to the Prime characters, but just that the Rumples are connected because there’s only one Darkness.

Like, the universe cannot truly sustain multiple Dark Ones in multiple realms (and consider what would happen if one realm’s Dark One killed another realm’s Dark One and became even more powerful), we saw how badly it went when Emma tried it for Killian, so as a precaution the universe has made it so that no matter what realm, the same person is the Dark One, and they’re tethered by that power. Even powerless and mortal, Rumple was still the Dark One in that moment, still tethered to Wish!Rumple, so his death killed them both, just like him surrendering his power would have surrendered Wish!Rumple’s power as well.
