Still not over Astroboyd. Really happy with how S3 is developing so far.
Also Boyd and Gyro sporting matching bow ties, anyone?

Some rough sketches after yesterday’s episode. This one got me good. It was so cute. Gyro’s a dad now. Huey has a best friend. Boyd got a the healthy family and validation he deserves. Fenton is a ‘doctor’! His M’ma will be so proud. I really want Gyro to type him up some sort of fake doctorate degree and leave it at that. Can’t wait to see more of these science nerds

Ducktales just keeps...getting better and better. Today was an amazing episode. I’ve never gone into it on tumblr, not even on my main blog, but my job (that I’m currently laid off from due to obvious reasons, that is also my first job) involves working with autistic children. It’s like being part teacher, part daycare worker. I have friends who are on the spectrum, family members, and if we’re being honest, I’m also a bit divergent myself. Never diagnosed with anything but... you know. Different enough to be detected by other children, who were seldom kind.
Hard as my job can be, I truly love it because I love working with those kids. I could gush about them for hours, and I have missed them during this quarantine. Most of all I miss my main kiddo, who had just started doing a fantastic job using three words to make requests (like “I want movie” or “I want outside”, which doesn’t sound like a lot but truly means so much for a little boy who has been having difficulties with speech).
It’s been obviously stated a lot more eloquently in other posts on here, but Huey definitely seems to be autistic-coded, as does BOYD, and the case can be made for Gyro and Fenton also being autistic-coded. Which makes this episode involving all of them all the better! Today’s episode is amazing, fun, and heartwarming as well.
We see how Huey is picked on by other kids for being different, and how he is able to start a bond with BOYD near instantly. The two of them become quick friends, and Huey refusing to give up on BOYD was so touching. I kept preparing myself for Huey to lose faith, but he’s too smart for that. Gyro realizes that BOYD turning evil was never his fault, nor BOYD’s own fault. He puts himself in harm’s way to offer poor BOYD the one thing he has wanted for the longest time;
A hug.
A lot of the kids I work with just want a hug, or somebody to be their friend. Somebody to play chase with them, or put a puzzle together with them, or even just sit quietly together and enjoy each other’s company. Several of the children I work with have tried to share their food with me, simply because they want to share it with me. And even if I hate pretzels, you better believe that if one of the kids I’m working with is offering me a pretzel, then by thunder I am gonna chew that pretzel and discretely spit it out later because I’m sorry I just do NOT like pretzels but I will not turn a kid down.
Because as this episode makes clear, everyone deserves to be shown kindness. That is always going to be an important lesson. It was important when I was a child being picked on for “acting weird”, it’s important when one of my younger cousins tells me that he gets picked on and called “stupid” when he’s trying his best, and it will be important for the generations beyond us too.
#dt spoilers#I had some feels about today's episode#now please excuse me as I rewatch on the disneynow website again

Popping out of the woodwork to say, I love and respect this mighty rooster himbo. And if you don’t, that’s okay! But I find him to be interesting, fun, and I look forward to seeing what will happen with him in future episodes.

So there's a lot of discourse about Steelbeak. Some people love the new version and some people hate him or at the very least are disappointed.
I am a huge fan of OG Steelbeak but I adore this version of him too...A LOT more than I expected to if I'm being honest. People are allowed to be disappointed though. Different characters mean different things to people and if people don't like this portrayal that's valid and they have every right to their opinions.
For me I'm looking at him as a reboot and a totally different character. You can still enjoy both versions independent of the other or one and not the other. Fandom isn't a contest of which character is better. Even if you don't agree or have a difference of opinion let fans enjoy things that make them happy. It costs nothing to keep scrolling past things that upset you.
Fans should respect each other even if they don't agree. Fandom is supposed to be fun and I'm shocked at some of the things I've seen over the last few days. I'm looking at the brightside, we now have two Steelbeaks to love if we want.

I know I’ve been pretty quiet for the past several months, and there are many reasons for that. Some of it is personal, some of it is trying to keep out of the more toxic parts of this fandom. Like geez, the people that don’t like Mark go too far sometimes. Mark’s not real. He’s an antagonist in a tv show. I get not liking him, but don’t harass people for liking him! What happened to just disagreeing like normal people, huh? I’ve also recently gotten a job, my first ever job and one that’s actually in my field too, which is pretty exciting! But rest assured that I have never truly been gone. I’ve been eagerly watching every new Ducktales episode.
And yesterday’s episode was one of my favorites. I was a big Darkwing Duck fan when I was a kid, but I never got to see every episode back then. I was born in 93, and I had to rely on reruns and stuff which I think usually came on at like...3 am? but I loved what little I saw. And when I was 13, I discovered the internet fandom. And wouldn’t you believe it...my first fandom was Darkwing Duck. I even made an embarrassing(and my first ever!) fanfiction about a villainess oc! So needless to say...all of the DWD references and callbacks... everything with Drake Mallard and Jim Starling, LAUNCHPAD BEING SUCH A SWEET DORK... It was just an amazing episode to watch. I feel JUST like Drake and Launchpad.
Ducktales is an amazing show and I really want to see where it’s going to go from here. I knew it was in good hands because I remembered Frank from WOY (also known as my favorite recent cartoon and criminally under-rated THIRD SEASON WHEN DISNEY???) but every new episode just cements it all the more. I’m still a big fan, I’m still here even if I’m quiet, and I just wanted to get these thoughts out because damn if I don’t love this show still.
