I fucking despise the version's of Batman who can do anything, beat anyone, and is just cold to everyone.
One reason people love BTAS/TNBA so much is because that vetsion of bruce lost fights, needed help, and often defeated his enemies by letting them confront their own issues head-on.
Baby Doll took a sitcom cast hostage and was ready to kill them. Bruce defeats her by letting her confront her dysmorphia. He doesn't hurt her. He comforts her.
When Harvey Dent goes to reconstructive surgery to undo his scars, Bruce not only pays for it, but he watches the procedure to make sure everything is okay.
All of this is to say if you are writing Batman and your Batman doesn't understand the difference between evil people and hurt people who are hurting people because all they know is pain, then you are doing it wrong.
I stand firm that if Superman is a symbol of hope and Wonder Woman is a symbol of justice, then Batman should become a symbol of compassion.
His mission from day one was about compassion. He was hurt and made the decision that he wanted to make a world where people didn't get hurt like he was. He took in his Robins because they needed help that he could provide. And he comforts the hurt people that hurt people.
Batman needs to care. It's what makes him him.

Killer Croc is written best when he's depressing
I should be feeling sorry for him, make me desperately wish Batman understood
He should always be a dumb, strong, ugly, guy who is by the laws of the universe, never allowed to catch a break.
If a story gives him something like a family, its so he can have the veil ripped away and be left even more alone.
The only thing he is allowed to be is the villain the world wants him to be, anything else is punished.
You know, I really believe that if circumstances afforded him better opportunities, Waylon Jones could have used his mutations to become a superhero.
In a world where Charles Xavier found Waylon in very early life he could have been a great hero
But the only time he is allowed to be happy is the place where everything is "wrong". Absolute universe is the bad one?
