“Nice to meet you Cici,”he told her with a chuckle as he started pulling his boxers then pants on. “I think we met at a bar…I have a vague memory of going to one with a buddy,”he admitted. 

“Nice to meet you, too, Micah.” Cici pulled her pillow up behind her to lean back against the headboard and tried to give her guest some privacy while he dressed, as hard as it was to look away. Picking at her nails to avert her gaze she added her own memories to the conversation, “That does sound very familiar. I remember getting stood up by a client I was supposed to be meeting. And then jello shots. A lot of jello shots.”

“Wait, you make funnel cake!? Please, if I could make funnel cake I’d be tooting my horn up and down 34th. Do you have a pastry shop or something?! Please tell me you have a pastry shop - if I visit those girls who were on cupcake wars one more time, I’m pretty sure they’ll file a restraining order.”

“I do! I was really lucky in finding a space close to the center of town, so it’s had great foot traffic. I normally only do funnel cakes in July to do Fourth of July sales and promotions. They’re kind of like a secret menu item throughout the rest fo the year. No restraining orders needed - You just come see me instead!”

“I’ve tried, honestly. This has been happening since…January? At least. Came back from Christmas and bam! Santa left me a damn permanent elf with a horrid laugh. Maybe I could enforce some kind of laugh limit? 20 minutes a day once she goes over charge her?”

“Oh, goodness. That really is quite a long time. Maybe you could do some sort of...  Quiet hours? Or send her a quick e-mail about making sure that people keep it down in the office? But only send it to a select few? A laugh limit seems a little harsh to me, but you do what you’ve got to do.”

“Oh,”spilled out of his mouth as he looked over at the woman. “I uh… I’m Micah..in case you don’t remember my name because honestly..I don’t remember yours,”he admitted as he bent over the side of the bed, grabbing his clothes off the floor.

“Then how about we start from square one,” she chuckled. “My name is Cecila, but please call me Cici. I think that maybe we’ve reached a point in our, uh-” Cici gestured in between the two of them while she fit her head through the t-shirt. “Whatever happened. You know?”

“Really? Do you know a better place? I’m always down for a sampling of funnel cakes around the city!”

“Sort of! Kind of! Not to toot my own horn, but I’ve been told that I make a mean funnel cake. Well, it was my mom’s batter recipe, but she taught me how to mix it and twenty-ish years later here we are.”

“Oh fuck,”Micah muttered as he sat up quickly, noticing he wasn’t in his room. “Where am I?”

“Hi, yes- Uh... Well.” Cici rolled to shifted her body to an awkward angle, skimming her hand across the floor for any article of clothing to put on. “Good morning! You’re in my apartment.”

“Can we designate this weekend as an everyone goes to Coney Island and eats way too much funnel cake and corn dogs - kind of thing, please?”

“The Coney Island funnel cakes are okay, I guess... But I don’t know that’s just... Me.”

“I feel like the correct answer should be... No? But I can’t one hundred percent blame you either. Some laughs are just... A lot to handle for long periods of time.”
