Dan and Phil Rize Summary, Aug. 28/29, 2018

-They had technical issues getting started, so they were later than expected

-Dan had a mango room service smoothie, although he didn’t like that it came with a plastic straw (save the whales)

-They were even further in the future than they were in Australia last week

-Dan: “‘I have insomnia,’ said Sarah. Well. Phil will really give you nightmares.”

-Phil tried to tell his mum that his friends got to stay up until midnight, so he should be allowed to, too. Kath told Phil that midnight was at 10pm so he wouldn’t argue about going to bed 

-They had a little explore of Auckland, but Dan has basically been asleep for two days. Dan: “Hi, welcome to New Zealand, zzzzzzz”

-They had a day in Auckland hanging out with Mimei. They were sad that they didn’t have Duncan, too, but he’s in Japan

-They went up to Sky Tower with their friend for their birthday. Dan “wasn’t about it” because the building is a little older, which made him nervous. Their friend was scared of heights and elevators, and they didn’t tell them the elevator had a glass wall

-Dan ranted about how confusing timezones are because they aren’t THAT far from Hawaii right now, but Hawaii is 22 hours behind New Zealand. Someone in the chat said it was because of Flat Earth, Dan agreed

-Phil leaned on the glass at Sky Tower, and was only “mildly scared.” He also managed to not get sick in the revolving restaurant unless he focused on the ground and then looked back up

-Dan: “Speaking of whales…” Phil: “Were we?” Dan: “We were at the start. I don’t remember how.” 

-Dan was hesitant about the whale watching because most of the time you don’t see anything on a whale watching trip, but this place guaranteed seeing whales because the whales are migrating through the area

-They had to get up super early (7am) to head to the boat, and the people were handing out travel sickness pills, but the water was fairly smooth, so Phil didn’t get sick

-Apparently the whales like to play with the boats. Dan: “I hope it’s not a…nice little…casual playing with the boat” **smirks** Phil said they didn’t play with the boat because they were “playing with each other” because it’s mating season

-Phil cried the first time he saw the whales because he wasn’t prepared, they weren’t supposed to see them for a little while longer. His voice cracked telling us about the whale calf. Phil: “I literally cried… I stripped all my clothes off, threw myself in the water”

-Dan drinking his smoothie: “This is a spon for mangos. Buy mangos.”

-Their hotel in Brisbane was on the 73rd floor, so they were the highest people (not in planes) in Brisbane. Dan said it made him feel obnoxious as a human because we feel the need to build things so tall. Phil: “I always think that when I’m having a wee. Is anyone else [having a wee] not on a plane higher up than me?”

-They didn’t find any of Phil’s secret giant family members in Australia, but they are going back to Sydney, so there’s still a chance

-They have a show in Auckland today, after a few days off. Phil: “We haven’t done [the show] in like four days! I might have forgotten it all!”

-They’re enjoying doing Insta stories, will probably keep going after tour. Phil: “I’ll do one every time something interesting is happening.” Dan: “Every minute.” Phil, laughing: “Can you imagine if I did one every minute?”

-Phil only followed Kylie Jenner to get the lip filter to get revenge on Dan, but she posted too much, so Phil unfollowed

-They launched into Truth Bombs live, starting to make the unintelligible noises they make for Dan v Phil, but Phil stopped because he thought he heard housekeeping, and this is the kind of hotel where they just ignore the “do not disturb” sign and come in anyway

-What imaginary sport would Phil win a medal in? Phil: “I like to think I am a sporty guy.” Cue Dan laughing

-The first person was in Sydney and was wearing a jacket similar to Phil’s bomber jacket, Phil said he liked it and it looked “very familiar.” They said Phil would win a medal in the sleep Olympics

-Phil couldn’t remember how to drop people after he pulled them into the chat, so he was just pressing their face aggressively on his phone for a minute

-Phil picked the second person because they had a dog in their pic, and they said they were in Seattle. Dan responded with, “Oh, cool, we just left there—WHERE IS YOUR DOG??” They brought their puppy in and got a dual “Yaaasss” from D&P

-They said if they were going to be nice, they would say Phil would win “cutest person alive” (which made Dan gag), but their real answer was that Phil would win for eating the most Haribo. Dan: “I have seen that. I have literally seen that.” 

-After seeing the dog, Dan said it was the highlight of his day. Phil: “I wish I could reach through Rize and grab the dog.” Dan: “That’s not a feature that the Rize app has yet.”

-The third person had a green wall in their bedroom. Phil said it was a good choice, Dan called it questionable, but said he respected their uniqueness

-They said Phil would win for the sport of sneaking cereal. Dan: “Thank you! Thank you! Only facts in this house.” He declared them the winner for exposing Phil.

-“I love you guys!” Dan: “We love you, too! I don’t love your wall”

-Phil: “I’m currently betraying the thing I said I would never do, which is touching a hotel cushion.” Dan, singing: “How many asses have touched that?”

-Phil has spent a lot of time playing video games while Dan’s been asleep for two days

-Chat: “Dan’s hobbit game is strong.” Dan: “Relevant. We’re in the land of the Hobbits right now”

-They need like a week to recover at home before they start posting videos again, but Dan said they probably won’t get it because they have to launch into editing the LA show. They spent the whole time in the editing suite for TATINOF (like 40 hours), and this one will probably be the same 

-Phil said they’re filming some gaming videos either today or in Sydney

-Dan: “The chat asked for more golf. **sarcasm alert** Oh, we didn’t bring the golf hats! Dammit. Damn-It. Dammit.” 

-There should be more socks in Phil’s shop next week, but when Lion comes back into stock, those will be the last ever Lions because Phil wanted it to be a special thing

-All of the Lions are slightly different, they have a bit of their own personality. Phil ordered himself one just to see if it worked (he apparently always does that with their new merch), and one of them has eyes closer together than the other

-At “some point” they should both have more merch 

-They aren’t allowed to say when the movie is coming out or where, but it should be this year. They’re having a big Skype meeting 

-They have not seen a kiwi yet in NZ, Dan said because they’re endangered, Phil because they’re nocturnal. They did a Google search, found out they’ve downgraded to vulnerable, so Phil said they might just wander through the hotel

-The Shining hotel they stayed in had a bear walk through the lobby last week. Dan said they were there with Martyn, so if it had happened when they were there, he probably would have tried to take a selfie with it and died

-It hailed while they were in Melbourne. Dan apparently didn’t pack any warm clothes because it’s a “summer tour” and it’ll be warm again in a week in Manila

-Dan likes to just let Phil talk just to see where it goes. Phil said he was treating him like a science experiment and sat silent for several seconds. They both stared at the camera for a bit, but Phil cracked first and smacked Dan in the face with the “dirty” hotel cushion

-They’ll do another Rize show next week, probably a couple hours earlier.

-The next truth bomb = What animal does Dan remind you of? Phil: “A rat. We’re just going to get three rats”

-Dan: “If I were saying this about Phil, I would say a naked mole rat, or a vulture with an emo fringe”

-Phil couldn’t figure out how to leave, so Dan just sat there sipping his smoothie while Phil said bye to people

It will come out eventually let's face it, give it a couple more years and Phil will get caught and Dan will passively tweet about it. I mean if it's anything like the cereal incident.
