It's been some time, I'm sorry for my absence, but I am now just finally feeling better (at least trying to tackle social media and the such) and I think it's about time to get back to the land of the living.

If you don't follow me on social media, I was able to attend MegaCon in Orlando FL 2 weeks ago. Honestly, it's probably the closest to a SDCC level event I will ever attend and with the amazing time I had there, I am happy with that!

The show had a popup Gundam Base shop, where I grabbed a few exclusive kits for my collection. The shop had a ton to offer, and to say the least,I was like a kid in a candy shop. I seriously hope Bandai keeps doing these as I highly recommend any Gunpla builders to at least experience it once in your lifetime (unless you are going to Japan and in that case I am jelly of you)

Also, at the show, I got to meet my childhood hero, Peter Cullen (or better known as Optimus Prime)! I know they say " you should never meet your heroes" but seriously, please do! Mr. Cullen is one of the kindest, gentlest, and most welcoming celebrities I have ever met. My experience meeting him is something I will treasure for a lifetime!

With as much of a blast we had at the con, sadly shortly after, we all came down with small bout the dreaded con crud. While I haven't felt too social this past week ( I honestly hope I didn't snub any of you guys at all) and while I have been recovering I'm working in short burst at my desk assembling some kits and trying to work down that backlog ( and yes the pictures will be following soon). Think I got 2 kits knocked out over this week and have started on my 3rd? 2024 is already off to a good start.

Wow, didn't think I had that much stored up there. Sorry about that. Anywho, glad to be feeling better and glad to be back.

The humble Demi Trainer from Witch from Mercury. It's not a real impressive machine, but it's hard to make it through an episode without at least seeing one wander through the background somewhere. And I like the chunky, simple design.

It's definitely a simple kit. There's just three runners of plastic. And the instructions are full of whitespace - like they were padding it out.

I used my shiny silver Gundam Marker behind the faceplate there. Added a nice bit of reflectivity behind the clear plastic. Definitely makes it pop.

I used a metallic green Gundam Marker for the little bit of cockpit that peeks out of the chest section. I think it pops better than the stickers do.

I tried painting that big ol' chest stripe... But my paints weren't taking well and I wasn't happy with the result - so I just used the included stickers.

It's definitely a quick, easy build. Everything is fairly chunky. Not a whole lot of individual pieces to anything. It almost feels like it could be an Entry Grade kit.

The end result, however, is a very solid figure. Very poseable. Very expressive.

And, of course, there's the Expansion Parts Set to add even more options. A whole variety of weapons and tools, as well as a couple open hands.

This is definitely one of the better gunpla kits I've built. It's simple, but packs a punch.

WIP 30 Minute Sisters Rishetta

My current work in progress is the 30 Minute Sisters Rishetta. I have a few more figure/non-mecha style kits that I want to work on (the Miku is probably going to be my next kit, unless I am distracted by a Witch From Mercury kit), so really I wanted to get a feel for how they went together. I am very happy to say that I am enjoying these figure style kits just as much as I enjoy the mecha figure kits.

The 30 Minute Sisters kits are perfect for trying out a more action figure style kit, and I seriously see a ton (and I mean a ton) of customization options for them. Rishetta will probably be the first kit I will get my feet wet with customization (beyond that of just lining my kit).

If there was one thing I did in 2023 it was build a shit load of models. I think I built like 30-40?? Which is a lot for me since I don’t get a lot of hobby time and I split a lot of it with building Pokémon decks this year after scarlet and violet came out.

Anyway this is definitely my favorite kit I built this year. Painted a Zeta inspired by Cinnamoroll. My friends and I call it the Baby Zeta.
