The way Bucky closed his eyes when he and Sam hugged.

How he seemed to be relishing in the embrace.

And it's canon. Not something we SamBucky fic writers dreamed up.

That's just the way Bucky hugs Sam.

The way he closes his eyes and soaks up the feeling of holding Sam.

And the subtext is there. How worried he must have been for Sam's safety while watching it all unfold on the news. How he knows Sam one hundred percent has this Captain America thing down pat, but it doesn't stop the worry. How, while he was there to support Sam, to show up for Sam, to make sure Sam had someone there in that scary moment who wasn't making demands or second guessing him at every turn, there was something a little selfish in it. Something in the way he closed his eyes and held Sam that spoke to what Bucky needed.

He was amazing. He was Sam Wilson and it was a continuation and embodiment of the Sam we know and love but on steroids and I am blown away by Anthony Mackie bringing the Sam and staying true to the Sam. And by god yes, he is Captain America, his own Captain America that has nothing to do with his predecessor. Through and through and I hope haters will now stfu up about it but actually they’re gonna cry even harder.
