I think too many people interpret bathophobia/thalassophobia as a fear of what might be lurking in the depths, like sharks/scary fish/sea monsters etc. And I guess not knowing what might be lurking under the water is creepy but what’s infinitely worse and more unsettling is knowing that there are thousands and thousands of feet of cold empty abyss between you and the next solid surface

Back in the day there was a lot of discussion as to whether Code Geass or Death Note was superior, and who would win in a fight between Light and Lelouch, etc... So now in 2024 it's very funny that people will still talk about Death Note while the largest cultural impact Code Geass has had is buying clothes at the soup store
