Part 1 of my “Targaryen ladies that were not Dany’s ancestors” serie! (I think I messed up because Daenerys actually does descend from Daenys the Dreamer but OH WELL). I included Jocelyn because she married a Targaryen and because I wanted to draw her, I included Nettles because I like the theory that she’s Daemon’s daughter!
Part 2 is almost done, I promise!

And here is Shiera Seastar 💫 She is definitely an interesting character along with Bloodraven, whom I plan on drawing soon.

Witches of ASoIaF: Shiera Seastar
"... like her mother she was reputed to practice the dark arts... and they were those who thought that Shiera Seastar used sorcery to ferret out secrets..."

Pre-A Song of Ice and Fire: Alysanne Targaryen (also known as Good Queen Alysanne) & her final years
“The last years of Alysanne Targaryen were sad and lonely ones. In her youth, Good Queen Alysanne had loved her subjects, lords and commons alike. She had loved her women’s courts, listening, learning, and doing what she could to make the realm a kinder place. […] She had loved music, had loved to dance, had loved to read. And oh, how she had loved to fly. […]
All these loves were lost to her in the last decade of her life. “My uncle Maegor was cruel,” Alysanne was heard to say, “but age is crueler.” Worn out from childbirth, travel and grief, she grew frail after Aemon’s death. […]
She was far too unsteady to fly. Silverwing last carried her into the sky in 93 AC. When she came to earth again and climbed painfully from her dragon’s back, the queen wept.” - Fire and Blood

Wasn’t Daenerys’s behaviour supposed to be reminiscent of US intervention in countries like Vietnam or Iraq rather than representative of a revolutionary leader? And how is Daenerys a revolutionary in the context of Westeros? She has a claim because she was the last of the dynasty who ruled it and she had dragons because of that ancestery? Her aim was to reinstall a monarchy as her as the monarch, wasn’t it?
You gotta look at the bigger picture, because of fucking course the show wants you to buy the “she DOESN’T WANT TO END TYRANNY SHE JUST WANTS TO BE ON TOP OF IT, EVEN IF SHE’S TOO MAD TO REALIZE IT!” bullshit. But it IS bullshit. It’s a smokescreen to dress up their absolutely conservative political take as a *critique of imperialism and violent political leaders*.

every queen of the seven kingdoms: jaehaera targaryen
“the fourteen-year-old princess gave birth to twins, a boy she named Jaehaerys and a girl called Jaehaera. Prince Aegon had heirs of his own now, the greens at court proclaimed happily. A dragon’s egg was placed in the cradle of each child, and two hatchlings soon came forth. Yet all was not well with these new twins. Jaehaera was tiny and slow to grow. She did not cry, she did not smile, she did none of the things a babe was meant to do.”

What are you think about Rhaena telling Jaehaerys that she was always Visenya and Alysanne was Rhaenys???? Do you see any similarities between them?
I actually think I do see quite a few similarities.
Visenya was described by Martin to be passionate and unforgiving, and she was. Rhaena also had a tendency to hold on to grudges, although she might not have been as unforgiving as Visenya: she threatened to burn down Rogar Baratheon’s home and all the people inside it if he ever dared to take another wife because she blamed him for her mother’s death (Alyssa wed Rogar after Aenys’ death and became pregnant, dying of childbirth).
Rhaena was also more prone to using threats and intimidation, having no patience for diplomacy. In the same way, Visenya preferred to use force over diplomatic approaches.
Rhaenys was a good queen, loved by the nobles and the smallfolk alike, and Alysanne was called “The Good Queen” for her kindness, wisdom, and intelligence. Both Rhaenys and Alysanne were noted diplomats, and both of them were good at hosting their own events.
Both Rhaenys and Alysanne also did something for women’s rights in Westeros, although Alysanne contribution was notably more radical than Rhaenys’: Rhaenys decreed that a man could only deal his wife six blows to punish her (one for each of the Seven, excluding the Stranger, because he symbolized death), and anything further was a crime. Alysanne, meanwhile, convinced Jaehaerys to abolish the marriage tradition of the first night, which stated that when smallfolk wed, the lord or king had permission to take the wife to bed on the first night.
And generally, there’s also the dichotomy of a sterner, harsher, more warlike sister and the kind, playful, traditionally feminine sister that exists both between Visenya and Rhaenys and Rhaena and Alysanne. So I did like Rhaena’s comment about her being Visenya and Alysanne being Rhaenys.

“Down from the Lady Baela emerged a pale young woman of surpassing beauty, arm in arm with a richly clad boy near the king’s own age, his features hidden beneath the cowl of his embroidered cloak. Lord Unwin Peake could no longer contain himself. “Who is this?” he demanded, pushing forward. “Who are you?” The boy threw back his cowl. As the sunlight glittered on the silver-gold hair beneath, King Aegon III began to weep, throwing himself upon this boy in a fierce embrace. Oakenfist’s “treasure” was Viserys Targaryen, the king’s lost brother, the youngest son of Queen Rhaenyra and Prince Daemon, presumed dead since the Battle of the Gullet, and missing for nigh unto five years.” –Fire and Blood, pg. 661

Who do you think was the mistress of Aegon IV that was caught in bed with Terrence Toyne and afterwards executed? (We know who the mistresses of Aegon IV were, well, at least, the most important ones, but there is never any hint of which one could have been Toyne's lover.) I know there's not much information to reach a conclusion here, but still, do you have any theories?
Ah, the nine mistresses of Aegon IV (divorced, beheaded, died… wait, sorry, wrong lustful king who went from handsome and charming to bloated and unpleasant)… let’s list them and figure things out, shall we?
Falena Stokeworth
Merry Meg
Cassella Vaith
Bellegere Otherys, the Black Pearl of Braavos
Barba Bracken
Melissa (Missy) Blackwood
Bethany Bracken
Jeyne Lothston
Serenei of Lys
We know Terrence Toyne’s lover couldn’t have been Serenei of Lys, since she died giving birth to Shiera Seastar. Cassella Vaith is almost certainly the old Lady Vaith who Dunk managed to offend the year he was in Dorne, so not her either. Bellegere Otherys was not a Westerosi, and the mother of the next Black Pearl of Braavos (her great-great-grandaughter is the current one), so we can rule her out too. Barba Bracken was put aside for Melissa Blackwood, and if either of them had been executed Hoster Blackwood surely would have mentioned it when he told the story of the renaming of the Teats hills, so they’re probably not the ones either. Ditto Bethany Bracken, since the Toyne scandal has never been mentioned in the Blackwood-Bracken feud, nor in relation to Aegor Rivers (son of Barba), who is noted to only have a grudge against Brynden Rivers (son of Melissa), and not against his father (for killing his aunt/cousin/whomever).
So, that leaves Falena Stokeworth, Merry Meg, and Jeyne Lothston. Now, with those three, we have to work with the timing. We know that after Terrence Toyne was executed (by dismemberment), his two brothers did their best to kill Aegon. They were stopped by Aemon the Dragonknight, though he died in the process.
But we know Aemon did many things during his brother Aegon’s rule, including defending his sister Naerys, Aegon’s queen, from the slanders of Ser Morgil (btw this is definitely a Lancelot/Guinevere reference). He also entered a tourney as a mystery knight in order to name Naerys Queen of Love of Beauty, and so that Aegon couldn’t give one of his mistresses that title. And per the wiki article on Naerys, the AWIOAF app says she did not long outlive Aemon… but we also know that her children Daeron and Daenerys were born many years apart. So, from all this evidence, I would think the Toyne scandal (and eventually Aemon’s death) took place fairly late in Aegon’s rule and procession of mistresses.
Therefore, it seems most likely to me that the mistress in question was Jeyne Lothston. The Lothstons have a bad reputation, too, so that scandal would seem to suit their dark history.
Though it is possible Toyne’s lover could have been one of the early mistresses, or even Bethany (since I don’t have that much evidence to exclude her); nevertheless, Jeyne is my bet. Maybe if we’re lucky, the World of Ice and Fire will help confirm the details of this story.
