It was almost sad, how easy it was to slip through the doors of common rooms now, especially with the uproar of technology being allowed. After shuffling into line with a group of forth years, hunching over some in the process, Marlene found themselves ducking until they’d managed to climb through the portrait hole with an amused smirk, in desperate need of an escape from the Slytherins and their common room.
Spotting a not so pleased looking Sirius seemingly sulking in the corner, Marlene popped over beside him with an amused expression, “ You look like you could use a distraction from this madness, though I have to say, I’m more surprised by your lack of enthusiasm at having 24/7 access to adult sites,” they chuckled, tugging at the other’s robes as they pushed themselves off the ground. “ You’re in luck, however as I too need a distraction, and these zombies won’t cut it.”
Sirius’ expression as Marlene approached was still not impressed, but he didn’t attempt to glare at her until she disappeared, which for him, was the equivalent of inviting her to approach. “A lack of enthusiasm for muggle technology? From me? Yes, shocking,” he drawled, rolling his eyes. As if the Blacks would approve of such a thing -- he was certain as soon as Regulus wrote to tell them, Walburga and Orion would having a immediate heart-attack.
On second thought, perhaps this wasn’t such a bad thing, after all.
One dark eyebrow crept up toward Sirius’ hairline as Marlene touted the word distraction, and no one could deny the interest in his eyes. “A distraction, eh?” he asked. “What did you have in mind? If it involves fire, blowing things up, or dungbombs, I’m contractually obligated to involve James. It’s in the contract for best mates.” A smirk played around the corners of Sirius’ lips. “Otherwise, I’m open to suggestions.”

For the first time since his first year there, Sirius Black was disgruntled with the way he found Hogwarts when he arrived. The castle had long been his home away from the madness of his family, and the fact that it was changing bothered him -- not that he showed it. Instead, he simply slouched against the wall in the Gryffindor Common Room, his hands buried in the pockets of his robes, while his piercing grey gaze took in the other occupants. More than half of them were looking at small, handheld devices, and evidently gossiping via muggle invention. Sirius was not at all impressed.
Though he eschewed all of his mother’s values on principal, Sirius could not help but be of the opinion that muggles rarely had any useful inventions. There was enough gossip at Hogwarts already without the addition of these silly devices, and Sirius, for one, was absolutely not taking part. Not unless someone could explain what all the fuss was about ... or make it worth his time.

Hi! My name is Addy (she/her.) I’m a 27 year old Teacher of the Visually Impaired in the EST timezone. I don’t have any triggers, but I’m not a big fan of graphic non-con because it makes me uncomfortable. I love coffee, people-watching, dogs, and wasting time on Tumblr, & my students like to tell me that I have the lamest sense of ‘mom humor’ ever. Which, honestly, is probably true! I played Sirius a lot of years ago on forums, & recently decided I missed him, which led to applying to this group, haha.
INTRODUCTIONS: SIRIUS BLACK
[ Ben Barnes. seventeen. he/him ] Sirius Orion Black has stepped through the barrier to platform 9 ¾. the SEVENTH YEAR year GRYFFINDOR student is most looking forward to PRANKING UNSUSPECTING SLYTHERINS, RUNNING WITH A WEREWOLF AT THE FULL MOON, and HANGING OUT WITH HIS BEST FRIENDS AT QUIDDITCH MATCHES. their peers describe HIM as LOYAL and RECKLESS and has dubbed HIM as the INDOMITABLE. SIRIUS feels WORRIED about the war raging outside of hogwarts plans to JOIN THE ORDER when the year is up.
the story of my life
Born to the Most Noble and Ancient House of Black to Orion and Walburga, Sirius grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth. Materially, he wanted for nothing, though his family was anything but affectionate. At first, he began to act out just to get attention from his absent, uncaring parents – anything was better than the nothing he got – but as he grew closer and closer to school-age, Sirius realized that his parents really only saw him as an heir to their family values, and they would not love him if he deviated. From that moment on, Sirius went into full-blow rebellion. He drew mustaches on ancient family portraits, locked his brother Regulus in the cellar, played tricks on the house elves – and was consequently often in a great deal of trouble, and locked in his room where he could do the least amount of damage without raising questions in the magical world.
Being raised as a Black left its mark on the sort of man Sirius became, though he would never admit it, even to himself. He is quick to cast judgement on those he deems below him, and his temper is a thing to behold – he does not erupt, like most, but goes cold and cruel in a way he inherited from his mother. In a real fight, when he’s truly angry, Sirius will remain quiet until he has the worst possible thing to say, the thing that will hurt the other person the most, and hurl it at them. Being a Black also made him a little selfish, though that is something he recognizes and works to fight against. For example, he is quick to expect others to accept his apologies, but does not often do the same. Sirius is also cunning and intelligent, and would have done well in Slytherin had he not been so determined to break away from the path his family set out before him. Sirius has never been as thankful as when the Sorting Hat put him in Gryffindor.
That being said, SIrius IS in Gryffindor, and he is hardly only made up of negative traits. Sirius is incredibly courageous, and also a little reckless. He would put his life on the line in a second if he believed the cause was worth it, and fear would never stand in his way. Sirius is also incredibly loyal to his friends: James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. They are the first real family he has ever known, and he’d die rather than let anything happen to them. That’s why the war outside of Hogwarts makes him so anxious; his friends are in danger, and there’s nothing he can do to prevent it.
Sirius loves to play pranks on people (harmless ones, for the most part, unless they are in revenge for something), and loves to make people laugh. In dark times, sometimes laughter is the best way to ease tension, and he enjoys making people laugh. He also loves Quidditch, and follows the professionals religiously. (Don’t talk to him if the Canons lose!) Sirius likes to cook, when he is able to do so, though sometimes the results aren’t the best, and he believes his biggest and best accomplishment is becoming an animagus to help Remus through his transformations. It’s the first truly brave, unselfish thing he did, in his mind, and it actually helped someone.
Sirius doesn’t like purebloods who think they’re better than everyone else simply because of their birth – he threw all of that away, and doesn’t respect anyone who thinks it’s right. Sirius also hates tea, and drinks coffee, despite all of the horrified looks he gets when others realize. He also hates Severus Snape, perhaps unfairly.
After graduation, Sirius wants to become an Auror. He’s seen the evil in the world first hand thanks to his family, and he wants to fight it. Sirius also has a bit of a dream to be a hero, like many teenage boys, and tends to think of himself as immortal, which adds to his reckless streak.
some place magical
One of the many reasons Sirius did not get sorted into Slytherin is because he lacks ambition. He is incredibly intelligent, and when classwork interests him, he does exceptionally well. Unfortunately, the only classes that really pique his interest are Defense Against the Dark Arts, since he wants to become an Auror, and Transfiguration, because that kind of magic is awe-inspiring and eye-catching, like Sirius aspires to be. Therefore, his classes are a little less rigorous than they maybe should be. He takes DADA, Advanced Transfiguration, Divination (because that’s easy to bullshit his way through, of course), Potions, because it’s a requirement to be an Auror, and Care of Magical Creatures, because at least then he’s outside and not cooped up in a classroom.
Sirius is on the Quidditch team and plays as a beater. He’s not as good as James, but he enjoys the opportunity to threaten Slytherins with a bat and not get punished for it. Other than that, his only other extra-curricular activity is pranking with the Marauders. He spends so much time in detention that it should likely be considered one of his extra-curriculars, too.
Sirius’ favorite place at Hogwarts is the Forbidden Forest. He loves running as a dog with his makeshift ‘pack,’ on the nights of the full moon, and he also loves that everyone else is so afraid of it when he and his friends think they’ve mastered all of its secrets.

Sirius was lounging in his chair at his ease, tilting it back on two legs. He was very good-looking; his dark hair fell into his eyes with a sort of casual elegance neither James’s nor Harry’s could ever have achieved, and a girl sitting behind him was eyeing him hopefully though he didn’t seem to have noticed.
