In my culture, death is not the end. It’s more of a stepping off point. You reach out with both hands to Bast and Sekhmet, they lead you into the green veld where you can run forever.
my heart goes out to lebanon. please take the time to inform yourself on what is currently happening. to my followers who are lebanese, i am so sorry. i am not lebanese, i’m only trying to offer information that has been written by lebanese people. if you are lebanese please add more information. add direct and legit links to donations and petitions so we can help you out with what we can. i know petitions don’t really work for us in the middle east and in north africa so donations are preferred to help out lebanon! and for those of you who do not know what is currently happening i’m linking some information below and linking ways you can help. please help lebanon if you can. trigger warning: there may occur videos of explosions in the twitter threads! please add links, and please keep yourselves informed of what is happening and please, be safe. listen to lebanese people about what is happening in lebanon and amplify their voices! you can find a lot of information directly from lebanese people on twitter.

Please share my cousin Taylor Blackwell was found deceased at a hotel February 28th, 2020 at the age of 19 years old, less than 3 months shy of her 20th birthday. Taylor was an astonishingly intelligent, self aware, extremely mature, goofy and always had been beyond her years. My auntie has not had any solid answers from anyone. Her mother wasn’t allowed to identity her body, She never received her autopsy report, We contacted the police befor they contacted us since a hotel employee who was familiar with my family identified her by her ID In the hotel room and contacted my sister. The detectives have not gotten back with my auntie since April. There were bruises on her body that she wasn’t told about, and found out upon viewing her body for the first time. The only thing we’ve been told is that she may have severed her spinal cord but don’t how. They told us there were only a small trace of weed and alchcol in her system. There was absolutely no news or media coverage on this. Nothing is adding up my cousin was the most reposible young woman I new, and beyond cautious. She died a walking distance away from her home, and less then a 3 minute drive away from her home. She told me she was weary of the person she was with the last..... Nothing is adding up. Please share and make this public. #JusticeForTaylorB
here’s the link to donate to george floyd’s official memorial fund if you are able to contribute. if you can’t donate, please share. being black shouldn’t be a death sentence.
if only white ppl + nbpoc would spend less time being a performative activist on the internet & more time using their privilege to check and stand up to their racist/antiblack family and friends!! if you dont then youre a part of the problem. rbing a few posts saying you want to see justice and patting yourself on the shoulder bc you think that’s all you should be doing is not going to change anything. do better and be useful - sign petitions, donate to organisations if you have the means, devote your time into spreading awareness, call local governments and don’t speak over black ppl.
pls take the time to go through this link(x) it contains a lot of useful information on actions we can take!
in case y’all didn’t see, the Minnesota Freedom Fund is actually good on donations after that massive fundraise yesterday and is directing people to donate to other causes, including Black Visions Collective, Reclaim The Block, and Northstar Health Collective.
DO NOT JUST LIKE THIS AND KEEP SCROLLING FUCKING REBLOG THIS
script from @bluecollarbabe1 on instagram. even if you can’t protest, you can still be heard. use your voice. do something.
TEXT:
To whom it may concern:
I am writing you about the murder of George Floyd by MPD officers Derek Chauvin, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng, and Tou Thao. These men were not upholding the law, they were committing murder and terrorizing their community. Being fired is not an appropriate response to the crime. All officers must be charged with murder.
We cannot continue this way. This is not the way forward. Use your station and power for change; for good. Give a voice to the smothered. Prove that all lives matter. Do your job.
When the streets clear and the ashes fade, George Floyd will not be forgotten. The events transpiring may very well be plastered into history books. The world is watching. My generation will not fail to tell our children exactly what happened. Your actions now will cement how you are remembered. If you stand up and act, you will be remembered for your bravery, choosing to enact justice. If not, history will sneer at your cowardice. The choice is yours.
