are queer people accepted in your world? are Mo and Adanna openly queer?

I like this question a lot. See it's complicated. I don't plan on displaying violent queerphobia cause that's not fun to draw. But TDL's setting isn't a place where people are accepting of everything unfortunately!! Queerness is still seen as taboo among some people. Mo is both openly and visibly queer (lesbian and transmasculine specifically) but they're also rarely in the public eye and for good reasons that aren't related to queerness.

Adanna on the other hand is kind of the opposite. She's not exactly in the closet but she's not exactly out either. The closet doors are wide open but she's half sitting inside. Adanna won't outright say she's a lesbian, but she will reject every man that approaches her and get suspiciously close to an engaged woman (home wrecker tendencies). I think she would be the type to not say anything unless asked. Like she's not gonna lie if someone calls her a lesbian but she won't outright state it cause it's taboo.

The main plot of TDL is about the mysterious kidnapping of Adanna's younger sister, Chioma. She had recently received a merit-based scholarship for local medical school. Unfortunately, when it was time to attend orientation week, Chioma never made it to campus. Adanna hadn't received a single letter from her sister and assumed something was wrong.

I really love the way you're able to render dark skin without sacrificing details. Light balancing on darker tones is so important and can be tough to get just right and you do a great job <3 also your character designs are *chefs kiss*

If it isn't much of a spoiler to ask, or if there's already a post clarifying things (sorry I'm a bit new to the story but I lovelove things I saw so far ^_^) I'm curious about the nature of witches

Judging by the 16 yrs. Mo, based off the eyes, they seem to be human rather than witch at first. Do people become witches, or are they born as one?

Witches are not a race or ethnicity so it's not something you're born as! It's a term that covers a multitude of practices both irl and in the story, so definitely something you become. Mo's drastic change in appearance happened when they were around 18 and it wasn't because they practiced witchcraft but something else entirely. Whether or not they're still human is to be discovered.

It's not possible to be born a witch just like it's not possible to be born a doctor. However, children of witches can learn from their parents and carry on their legacies. With that being said, there is a huge stigma against the children of witches because they are perceived as having inherently impure souls in need of redemption and deprogramming. It's not uncommon to see children of witches in orphanages, due to them being separated from their parents for safety or because their witch parents were hunted. Even though witch-hunting was outlawed a couple centuries ago, some areas in TDL, with very ambiguous laws, will turn a blind eye. Especially if the targeted witch was a powerful one.

What's Mo and Adanna's preferences on beverages? Tea, coffee, something else? And if it is tea or coffee are there any specific blends they like?

Mo likes tea, specifically lemon balm tea because of its calming effect. Adanna likes tea but prefers coffee, specifically espresso. Adanna is a bit of an alcoholic, while Mo rarely drinks and if they do, it's usually during big social events or holidays.

This is Stella (30 yrs) and Camille (27 yrs), they're both exorcists/clerics who work for the city's local "Bureau of Parapsychological Assistance".

As you can imagine, their work consists of un-haunting houses and un-possessing innocent individuals. They also (ethically) track down out of control witches. Think of them like very organised mercenaries without weapons.
