It's so refreshing to see actual semiotic analysis of an occult text goddamn.

loads of cultures have known that the solar year is 365 days long and yet afaik none of them have gone with a 73 by 5 calendar system. its weird! the aztecs had a coprime calendar system with 13 by 20, which is a stupid length of time if youre a farmer (altho afaik it was largely for divination, also it could be based on the length of a pregnancy but that would be stupid). 5 is such a good number! you could even break up the 73 into an 8 by 9 system (or 6 and 12), with 1 special "week"! the chinese system of time/calendar keeping isnt even more complicated, with the 60 year cycle of 5 and 12. so weird!

Instead of doing the work that I was supposed to do today, I decided to illustrate one of my biggest pet peeves.

*grabs your hands and speaks to you in a tone that is so gentle* they/them pronouns stop being universal once you learn a person's pronouns. Sometimes that person's pronouns will include they/them and in that specific case you are allowed to keep using those pronouns for that person. In any case where you learn a persons pronouns and that person doesn't use they/them, you should no longer use those pronouns for that person. If you continue to use they/them pronouns knowing that person doesn't use them, you are now misgendering that person. Kindly stop doing that please. Thank you, I love you.

anyway despite everything else going on in the political and personal side of things the shonen manga vibes of this event were insane, kept feeling like Goku might appear at any moment to throw hands with Chongyue. the feeling got even stronger after reading Chongyue's files and learning he got out of Dusk's painting with sheer martial arts
I will always love how well Arknights' writing manages to combine its more down-to-earth side and its higher scale side. pretty much created for me specifically since I thrive the most in the line between the two rather than when there's too much of only one of these aspects

“some people don’t deserve redemption” redemption isn’t something that’s deserved, it’s something someone does. it’s making the choice to change the way you live your life, to be better, to do good things instead of bad things and try to make up for the bad things. and everyone can and should do that, at any time, no matter what they’ve done. we can’t change the past, but we can choose what kind of person to be now and in the future. we have the responsibility to do so. it is so completely not about “deserving.”
