i got my gatsby essay grade back a while ago and i'm glad i got a good grade (99/100 let's go) because i tried to put as much of my nick is gay agenda into that thing while making it as straight as possible. closest i got was comparing gatsby's admiration of daisy to nick's admiration of gatsby and i'm glad that didn't get points docked. the prompt was literally to examine gatsby as nick sees him that's begging for me to talk about how nick has a big fucking crush on gatsby.
but now i don't have the essay anymore so i can't post it :(

update to this post:
School year whooped my ass, I'm on summer break
My dad died last week 🥲. Cancer, liver and kidney failure.
I have writers block
Unfortunately, I lack the ability to bounce back like all those unhinged ao3 authors who get revived after a vehicular manslaughter attempt and a cult escape. Please be patient :)
Will you ever write for Alex Law again? :-(
ABSOLUTELY!
I've just been swamped silly this week, I've got a bunch of plans, it's been my birthday week (It was Tuesday, but I have a party Saturday) but totally!!!
I'LL TRY TO WRITE SUNDAY, BECAUSE I THINK I HAVE AN IDEA OR TWO. I GOT THE MOVIE FOR MY BIRTHDAY!
Trust. I will write for my wife again. He is so babygirl mew mew.

so sick & tired of people saying daisy buchanan did not deserve jay gatsby, first of all, daisy owed that man NOTHING!! (not even her love). was she selfish? yeah. back then women had to be selfish to survive. she was a woman who made a choice and just because it wasn’t the one he wanted, doesn’t mean it wasn’t hers to make. she chose survival and somehow that made her the villain.
#daisy buchanan#jay gatsby#the great gatsby#LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK#I am unfortunately a Daisy defender until I die

HAPPY BARRICADE DAY (post 1)
Social Justice analysis paragraph, GO:
Social Justice and Les Mis AnalysisPeople should not carry out their responsibilities without question. This statement could be considered true because someone could ask you to do something immoral and be expected to do it without question. This idea is seen in Les Miserables when women, like Fantine, are seen as less if they have a child out of wedlock, and women who worked as prostitutes were abused and harassed by not just their customers, but also the police. The police also ignored these women in conflict. The gender discrimination Les Miserables is also seen in modern society. In the article “Gender pay gap in U.S. hasn’t changed much in two decades” by Carolina Aragao, women have been getting less pay than men, having their pay docked because they have kids, and having a lower chance of getting a higher position because of their family obligations (Aragao). This situation shows that without women advocating for themselves they would be expected to work for essentially nothing, the government wouldn’t have recognized their reasoning, and would not have done anything about it. For this reason, people shouldn’t act on their responsibilities without questioning them first.

RESERVING JUDGEMENTS IS A MATTER OF INFINITE HOPE
And, after boasting this way of my tolerance, I come to the admission that it has a limit. Conduct may be founded on the hard rock or the wet marshes but after a certain point I don't care what it's founded on. When I came back from the East last autumn I felt that I wanted the world to be in uniform and at a sort of moral attention forever; I wanted no more riotous excursions with privileged glimpses into the human heart. Only Gatsby, the man who gives his name to this book, was exempt from my reaction—Gatsby who represented everything for which I have an unaffected scorn. If personality is an unbroken series of successful gestures, then there was something gorgeous about him, some heightened sensitivity to the promises of life, as if he were related to one of those intricate machines that register earthquakes ten thousand miles away. This responsiveness had nothing to do with that flabby impressionability which is dignified under the name of the "creative temperament"—it was an extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness such as I have never found in any other person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again.
-The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald
I've been rotating through some ideas for visuals, rattling around thoughts about voyeuristic claustrophobia. idk, summer weather is here and it's got me thinking about gatsby! it's a summer re-read book for me. almost an annual tradition at this point ngl
