Thinking Of Starting Your Own Youtube Series? Here’s Why That Can Be A Great Idea
YouTube is not only one of the biggest sites online, its also one of the most popular ones. It encourages artistic and creative expression through videos that pretty much cover everything from films, music, games or vlogs. Whether you want to watch new short films or sports videos, you can find them all on YouTube.
A YouTuber is a real thing now and being one means that you are amongst thousands of people earning an income via the internet.
Why Is YouTube So Popular?
YouTube is a platform where people can do whatever they want and it allows users to watch whatever they want. You can watch pranks, sketches or fails amongst many other things on YouTube. The amazing content versatility that YouTube offers means that it has become the hub of all things digital entertainment.
If you become popular enough as a YouTuber, you will get paid to post videos. Common misconception about YouTube is that it’s an easy way to earn money and almost anybody can become a successful YouTuber. The reality couldn’t be further from this. First of all, to become popular your videos should be good enough to be liked. Making just one good video will do you no good if you are not able to retain your audience and convert them into subscribers. Some YouTubers work tirelessly to create an original video every day for their fans. This means that they have to record, edit and upload their content on a daily basis.
If you are still unsure of starting your own new Indian web series on YouTube maybe listening to some success stories might give you the required motivation.
3 Indians Who Have Made It Big Because Of YouTube
1) Tanmay Bhatt of AIB

Tanmay Bhatt was already writing screenplays for shows like Oye Its Friday and the prestigious Indian Filmfare awards, but nobody had even heard about him till the AIB YouTube channel gained prominence in the eyes of the Indian public.
2) Kanan Gill, Stand up Comedian

Kanan Gill was a software engineer and you might think ki us main “problem kya hai”, but unlike the truckloads of software engineers earning dough, he was not particularly happy doing what he was and voila the popular YouTube show ‘Pretentious Movie Review’. You can say that things have gone well for the former YouTuber of India after the launch of Pretentious Movie Review’.
3) Arunabh Kumar of TVF

This former IITan had his creative juices supressed by his strict anti-movie father like millions of other Indian kids who are pushed into the path of education. But luckily for us he reconnected with his passion through the dramatic society of IIT Kharagpur and the popular YouTube channel TVF was born.

Why You Will Always Crave The Latest Entertainment News Of Indian Celebrities, Even If You Don’t Want To!
All humans have an innate tendency to gossip. There are many who claim that they are not interested, but personally I believe that’s just living in denial. Getting juicy tidbits of information about other people is always going to be interesting whether somebody is willing to accept it or not. I mean just think of most of the chatter that goes on in an office environment in an objective manner and you will realise that a large portion of it is just gossip, nothing else.
But why are we always inclined towards gossip? Sometimes my mom goes like,” Sharma ji’s daughter “ and I cut her off right there with a curt “ I know she’s dating that dude” (like I wouldn’t know the status of an attractive girl belonging to my age group, living right next to me).
Sometimes I read a news story that goes “Shahrukh Khan’s daughter……” and I am immediately in the grips of a dilemma. On the one hand my mind is like “who cares dude” why is this information news worthy and on the other hand I have already clicked on the link and am now reading the news piece! Being hooked to the latest gossip or entertainment news India or other celebrities is not especially surprising as it combines two things that literally every person in the world likes i.e. bad news and fame. Our constant desire to always want to know something intimate about somebody else got me thinking if there is a scientific or more logical explanation to this tendency. Turns out there is, and I have listed them below.
· Gossip and our Brain- The Relation
Recently studies conducted by Chinese researchers looked to observe the physical effect a celebrity scandal has on our mind. As part of the research 17 student volunteers were fed bits and pieces of gossip about their friends, a famous celebrity (who they had not heard about nor had any interest in previously) and themselves. The subject of the gossip provided to all the volunteers ranged from positive to negative news. For example the negative news would involve a celebrity being caught driving under the influence and the positive gossip could be about something like a successful collaborative search involving missing children. The volunteers of the study were made to undergo brain scans during the entire process.
Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly for many), most of the student volunteers admitted to enjoying negative gossip relating to their peers and celebrities and positive gossip about themselves. The interesting bit is that even though many claimed that they had no particular preference over whom they heard the negative gossip about, their brain scans provided evidence to the contrary. The area of the brain associated with pleasure and reward ‘Caudate Nucleus’ displayed moderately strong activity when the participants were told about gossip related to celebrity misfortune. Furthermore, increased activity was also observed in the areas of the brain associated with self-control, when the participants were fed celebrity gossip. This hints at the participants trying to hide their true feelings about how they felt when hearing the celebrity gossip. So, the next time you are trying to hide your emotions about something that has happened to the star of your best web series, remember the evidence is there in your brain and it does not lie.
· I Will Have One More Helping Of Bad News Please!
While celebrity scandals definitely top the list, the fact is reading or hearing about any type of misfortune ignites the feeling of ‘schadenfreude’ in our minds. The Pew research center conducted a survey in 2007, which showed that news preferences of Americans have remained constant over a span of 20 years, ever since the study began in 1986. This further throws into light our interest in bad news considering that topics for most headlines during the study period were about either war or terrorism.
The study can’t be ignored as another American idiosyncrasy as a 2003 study about word association showed that people worldwide have the same response to bad news. The study found that the responses to negative words such as ‘war’, ‘terrorism’ or ‘cancer’ was much quicker as compared to positive words like ‘smile’ or ‘fun’. This points towards a worldwide tendency towards negative outcomes, something that has been picked up and exploited by news outlets since the dawn of time.
This report by the BBC states that bad news is generally interpreted as a threat, which leads to an internal directive to alter one’s behaviour to avoid danger. In the end our eagerness towards hearing the latest digital entertainment news and gossip might just be about observing what mistakes other people make, so that we don’t do the same in our lives.
· Can it actually be a good thing?
While our almost innate attraction towards celebrity gossip can’t be denied or controlled some studies suggest that this in fact can also be a good thing. For many reading celebrity gossip can be a way of escaping their own problems and stress. People who are socially awkward can consider this as some kind of social interaction with people they adore. Think of Sheldon Cooper’s almost deity like devotion to Mr. Spock in The Big Bang Theory and the whole idea might become clearer to you.
“If they weren't going to be interacting with people otherwise, this makes them at least have a social relationship they didn't have before. So it's making the best out of a bad deal, psychologically.” Stuart Fischer emeritus professor of media psychology at the University of UCLA
This suggests that our tendencies towards celebrity gossip might actually turn out to be healthy in some scenarios. The next time you search for Indian news websites to quench your daily dose of celebrity gossip, remember that it’s not only natural but also in some cases healthy to do so.
