The best advice i can give any creator is do it before you're good at it, do it BEFORE you're happy, do it while you suck, do it while you're doubting yourself and get stuck the fuck in, because waiting around to be "good enough" is a motherfucking trap of the highest degree. You'll get good along the way and better after every project is complete. Remember, this is the greatest thing you've ever created, and then you'll do something else. You're only ever gonna get better, but not if you stand still.

one of the most challenging skills i've had to learn as an adult is the art of figuring out whether i'm proportionally annoyed with someone or just tired and overstimulated and looking for reasons to be pissed off

gonna have to end up adding this to my pinned and reblogging it obnoxiously, but:
my partner has been out of a job due to physical disability since march. they have applied to over 300 jobs and have only gotten a couple of interviews.
our car is in a bad way. our former roommate backed into it and never paid us back and now it struggles to drive when the a/c is on. we've been experiencing heat waves this summer, and since their only source of income at the moment is doordash, driving without the a/c really isn't an option.
we're also about to lose the car. we're in debt almost $2k. we'd like to get that paid off so we can turn the car in and get something with working a/c that can also handle the winters here in the midwest.
unfortunately, i do not make enough money to really contribute to this. i have to pay most of the bills, and i've only been able to work part time. i just got paid, but still i have under $300 in my bank account. we still have to get groceries and meds. and since bcbs screwed me over, i'm paying for my meds out of pocket. and i take a lot of medications.
i don't know what to do anymore. my partner doesn't have enough for their half of rent and it's due on the first. even if i didn't buy meds or groceries i wouldn't be able to pay the rest of rent on my own.
if you can help at all:
ca/vnmo: transdankovsky (me)
pypl: stuartdoodles @ yahoo (my partner)
if you can't help, please reblog.
thank you.

This is not like a fully completed thought but yk
So I've done my first aid + CPR a few times. And every single time I try and bring up scenarios for fat folks
Specifically like 'what if someone is too large for me to wrap my arms around then to do the heimleich'
And its incredibly rare I get a decent answer.
How absolutely insane is it that me, as a fat person, is asking how to have MY life saved or to save ANOTHER life, is an impossible feat if someone is fat.
Most of the time they tell me to 'just try anyways uwu'
There has got to be a better option.

hello! i'm not sure if this is entirely the right place, but do you have any tips for getting back into writing? because of real life stuff i haven't been able to write for months, and now that i have the time i just have... no idea where to begin
Oh man, I know that feeling. There's nothing quite like feeling "rusty" to make something seem almost impossible to do.
There are a couple of approaches to take (and I'm sure folks can suggest even more in the notes), and I'll start with the most common suggestion:
Start small. If it's been a while, you might not want to start with a huge fic. Knock out a oneshot, maybe even just do some free writing sprints, just to get into the habit of writing again.
Find your writing space. Relearn what position you like to sit in, whether you prefer to type on a keyboard or tap on your phone. Figure out whether you want a playlist going and what songs you want to include on it.
Don't begin with the intention to post. Start with the goal of writing not with the goal of having written. Write something that you are utterly enraptured by, something that absolutely tickles you in whatever way you want to be tickled. Connect to your id or to your inner child or to whatever part of you really wants to come out and play, and let that part of you loose onto the page.
Which leads me to my last point
Find a story that you can't stop thinking about writing. It doesn't have to be huge. It could even just be a single moment or scene. But if you can feel that inspiration hit you and experience that drive to capture that inspiration in words, that feeling can go a long way to getting you back into writing again.
Inspiration can come from other people, from music or art, from prompt memes or challenges, from the daydreams you drift off into when you're zoning out on the bus. Personally, I have a lot of success with just thinking of a joke that makes me giggle hysterically, and then I write 500 words that gets me to the punchline I want to hit, and I'm done.
What about the rest of you? Where do you pick up writing when you haven't done it for a while? How do you get started again after a break?

Being overstimulated is such a weird thing to explain to people. Like "hey sorry, I'm not mad at you and this is nobody's fault and I'm not blaming anyone for it happening, I am aware this is a part of regular everyday life but I am mentally crumbling because There Have Been Things Happening nonstop for 5 hours straight back to back with no breaks, and I really need to sit down in complete silence for like 15-25 minutes, after which I will be completely fine and can proceed as normal. But if I'm not allowed to have that, I will resort to violence."

the insane experience of missing a fictional character . like you can always go back and reread the book , replay the game , rewatch the show or movie , you can always go back & see them , but you can never experience them & their story for the first time again . its absurd to miss them because they'll always be there , but you'll miss when there were still new things for them to say .
for a small time they were real & growing and changing and you hung onto every new word, but now all they can do is repeat the same story forever&ever & they're not real anymore because you know everything they're going to do. & you miss them. its fucked man...

Entry level jobs haven't existed since the 2008 crash. 90% of hiring managers won't hire recent graduates. A quarter of job listings are ghost jobs. Companies hire part time so that they don't have to give benefits. Federal minimum wage hasn't increased since 2009. The True Unemployment Rate is 25%. Master's are the new bachelor's. For most the job search takes over a year. 75% of resumes are never. actually seen by the hiring team.

I’m sitting in a climate summit rn and I really need to remind people that agricultural trafficking is a bigger issue than sex trafficking AND sexual assault happens to trafficking victims in EVERY field to the point that it’s kind of disingenuous to call it/focus on ‘sex trafficking’ the way it’s disingenuous to complain about sex work being ‘exploitative’ or the source of sex trafficking as if hotel workers, restaurant workers and so on aren’t known to be exposed to extremely high amounts of sexual harassment and assault.
anyway apparently some 70% of the children trafficked into child labor in the US are in the agricultural fields to put veggies on shelves and houseplants in home depot.
just something to think about.
#sa mention#trafficking#forced labor is a better term for it#it is truly awful to think of how much of our existing systems rely on injustice like this to run successfully

having anti punitive justice morals sucks because you want to say "man that guy sucks he should get hit with hammers until he dies" but you also want to make it clear you don't think anyone should be put in charge of the 'hit people with hammers until they die" machine.
