You're about to embark on a major DMing endeavor, so from one player-killer to another I salute you and Titansgrave. What's your general, system-neutral advice to people who may be interested in going behind the screen in an RPG for the first time? Any particular settings/games you think do a better job teaching DMs / GMs / Storytellers to run games?
As much as I don’t love D&D 4E, the 4E DMG is probably the best guide to running any game that I’ve ever read. I’d also encourage anyone interested in getting behind the screen to seek out and read stuff from Ryan Macklin and Will Hindmarch about running games.
