Cawmix - Hussie's first webcomics
Today I want to tell you about Cawmix a little website made over two decades ago by the big man, the Huss, along with his brother Andrew.
Meet the artists:
Cawmix is a series of comics (that’s the pun) made by Andrew Hussie and Byron Hussie, you may recognize the latter as Byrobot, it’s pretty similar in style and humor to Team Special Olympics (The Scribblettes and Blurbs that is, not the more high effort stuff xD) being mostly completely absurd in nature, and in my opinion pretty funny sometimes, take for example:
—-ASAM: Clam Caper, a strip from the Super Heroes series, drawn by Byron
The site features several short comic series like this, TSO would also come to have different series in the same way, considering that and the pretty similar style, I would guess that this was their first attempt at creating a webcomic website, this would lay the foundation for what was to come, specially considering how basic the site is and details such as the artists page being titled “Untitled Document.” As possibly intentional as that might be lolol. (。・ω・。)
Each strip lists its author so you can know which one of them made it, there’s a number of shorter series made entirely by Andrew but most feature both artists.
Galaxy Bozo, from the Wacky Space Adventures series, drawn by Andrew, he would later feature a similar joke in some book defamation about flight
This seems to be the earliest of Andrew’s online presence, this website dates all the way back to 2002, it was archived in Wayback Machine several times over the next few years up until 2004 by web crawlers and in recent years it’s been archived a few times by web crawlers as well, so if the site was to ever go down, it’ll remain there.
According to the MSPA Prophet no earlier online works of Andrew are really known, so at least for now this one is probably it!
Banjo Bucks, from the Pete and Dick series, drawn by Byron
The site has a contact email listed as “ahussie” indicating that Andrew was probably the one programming it, don’t even try to send a mail as it’s probably super abandoned lol. ╮(╯-╰)╭
The site is hosted with Tripod, I don’t know much about it but it seems to be a free web host, which would explain how it’s survived all these years, unlike other sites hosted with paid for services.
Some warnings for TSO comics apply, a few of the comics are kind of edgy jysk if you decide to read them all.
Oodles of Noodles, a random strip from the miscellaneous section, drawn by Byron
I’m not sure how I came across this site in the first place? I’ve been a fan and buddy of Byrobot for a few years now so I’ve looked into his works before, which is how I recall coming across this ages ago, but I’m not sure how exactly it happened lolol.
If this sort of stuff interests you check my MSPFA account where I’ve been working on restoring a few MSPA forum classics that predate even Homestuck, most importantly Afterlife MSPA, where I’ve been working with the original author to have a super complete collection for it. ( •̀ ω •́ )✧ Do note that my page is not just archives, there’s also my original works which you should check anyways if you haven’t already.
Pictured is the reason why I’m making this post
I randomly brought up Cawmix and someone asked why no MSPA archives had saved this, I joked that it was because I was the only person that cared but other people present were really interested so if you’ve made it this far then probably you’re now interested too!
Thanks for your attention have a nice day. o(* ̄▽ ̄*)ブ

Beatricebaker.com - URL Changing! (And Life Rambles)
Change your bookmarks for this site to http://beatricebaker.com please! Sometime in the next month, the current Quinlan Circle sites will all go down. They’re not disappearing, necessarily; all sites are backed up and on a new server. But, there is a high likelihood that many of them will disappear. I’ve been prepping a lot of new blog posts recently, but I haven’t posted any of them because of…

5th Anniversary of Coming to Japan
I came to Japan 5 years ago, and a lot’s happened since then. Almost four years in snowy Aomori, half a year in sunny Shizuoka, and almost a year in variable weather Kyoto… I’ve lived in four and a half houses, worked in about 15 different schools, gotten big into and slowly out of debt two separate times, and met a lot of mostly wonderful people from all sorts of backgrounds. So many firsts in…

Civ Is Too Long
It’s taboo to say these feared words, but I’ll admit that Civ is too long. Sometimes way too long. And unless you drastically alter your playstyle or use certain mods, it’s very difficult to get it shorter. A few weeks ago, I was really getting into the Tides of History podcast’s overview of the ancient world, and somehow that got me playing Civ VI one weekend night. If you know me, you know I…

Link Scoop 003: True Love
I’ve found true love, and its name is… Link Scoop. Welcome to another addition of this blog series where I share with you the things I’ve been seeing on this here wide world of web. Considering I spend a majority of my waking hours interfacing with the internet on various backlit screens, I guess you can call that true love. Or true addiction. Anyway, you’re probably the same way, which is why…

Do It Yourself Anime American Character Annoys Me
It’s a pretty nice anime, but the Do It Yourself anime American character really annoys me in a few ways. This Fall 2022 anime came and went without a ton of fanfare, but it’s one of the very few original series that release each year. Not based on a book, manga, game, toy line, or anything else, just a straight-up story. It’s a clear Yuru Camp cash-in, trying to get a crossover audience with…

Switch 2 Ideas
I’ve got some Switch 2 ideas for you. Based on everyone else’s speculation, based on existing patents, based on the mood of the gaming world, I’m giving my idealized Nintendo Switch successor system. These aren’t predictions, per se. It’s my idealized-but-realistic version of Switch 2 ideas. Not going full-on dreamer here–there ain’t gonna be an official FPGA modular Nintendo console with a Wii…
