Well, they’re actually a bit harder to see than other stars. Since they burn at such a low (comparative) temperature, they shine less brightly than those around them and they’re one of the smallest type of star. They’re also the most abundant star type in our galaxy, making up about 60-70% of stars. I bet they look different cause you’re far away.

And about the guy I’m bringing! I don’t actually know if it’s a guy. I found this spare core down here with a tag labeled ‘Pendleton’. Turned them on, doesn’t even talk. So… it’s probably fine. Yeah? Still smackable.

As you speak of space, Wheatley's optic almost seems to glaze over - as if he's completely tuning you out. It isn't until you bring up the other core that he perks up again, rather immediately.

Pendleton! Man, what a name! Pendleton! Rolls off the tongue, doesn't it? D'you know what - if I weren't called 'Wheatley', I think - for sure - Pendleton would be the next name in line. Almost suits me, aye? Bit of a shame, to use them in our experiment, but, er... well, actually - doesn't matter, does it? They're obviously broken - so... off they go! A test subject! I'll tell you what that is: brave. Even if, of course, they're entirely unwitting, and, likely unaware what's even happening.

... Pendleton. Incredible.

Kind of like an out of body experience. It's really fascinating to me that portal 2's void is actually white in quite a few rooms (unless you properly leave the skybox), but I don't know if thats more or less eerie than pitch black.
