Unpopular opinion. People speak about the atrocities in the Congo and similar darker-hued occupied and oppressed places, mainly as afterthought, due to the internalized anti-Blackness at the subconscious level. Violent conditions are violent conditions. Harm is harm. War is war. And we are all complicit because the last thing most people are willing to do is give up their smart phones (one of the greatest modern-day addictions) or electric cars, both which require the death of many people. May God and the divine within us turn its blessing towards the Congo. Once I move and am settled into my life in simple warmer pastures, one of the first things I am doing is giving up my smart phone and its devastating anti-life karmic imprint. People have no idea that one of the reasons they feel so uneasy or unwell, full of anxiety and fear, has a lot to do with their unaddressed addiction to their smart phones.
