Regret

Regret holds quite a few different meanings to me, but the main theme would have to be life; more specifically, what I wanted to do with it. I’ve known since I was twelve years old that music was the only career that had a chance of truly making me happy, and that I would never be able to settle until I reached where I wanted to be in my career. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren’t very supportive of a kid saying he wants to be a musician, and that touring the world is his dream. The first verse deals with how I’ve contemplated my happiness over a job that will make me well off. It was a huge conflict that plagued my mind for years until my father left my mother and I on my 20th birthday. For most, they might have broke down or wondered what went wrong, but it was an awakening for me. It made me realize that he wasn’t happy with his life and this is where that path led him. In that moment I knew that I never wanted to be like that. I knew that happiness was the most important thing to me, and that everything else would work itself out along the way. Since that day, I’ve worked to not let others’ opinions or expectations of me affect what I want to do. A lot of people thought our music was weird and wouldn’t work, and we had very little support in the beginning, but Michael and I didn’t let that discourage us. We did what we liked, what truly moved us, and it’s blossomed into something that I’ve dreamt of for ten years.
