the point of adam’s scar/face reveal: to paint a clear picture of how dangerous the cycle of abuse and hate is to the audience, and also give more depth to adam as a character

So we got Blake and Yang directly addressing the similarity but key difference between Yang and Adam’s semblances, which was great. But another under-appreciated moment showing a key difference between the two was when, like Blake, Yang *also* gives Adam the opportunity to walk away from the fight.  This is so important in showing how Yang is Adam’s foil, rather than his clone. 

As revealed this episode, Adam, like Yang, suffered a terrible physical injury. But where Adam let himself be consumed by bitterness and resentment from that injury, Yang….did not. And Yang giving Adam, the man who gave her her injury, the opportunity to walk away shows she’s not the revenge fueled rage monster he is.

The fact that Adam can stand there and point his sword at the scar where he has stabbed Blake, hurt the person he claims to love, and still think he’s in the right here, that he can still have the guts to call her selfish, shows what an abusive, toxic asshole he is, and everyone who still thinks his actions towards Blake and Yang are even a tiniest bit justified just didn’t get the point of this entire show at all. Even when faced with his past actions towards her, he doesn’t show any remorse.

A small detail that no one has mentioned yet.

Neo’s semblance form (in the bar) was cocky as hell, and didn’t look worse for wear.

But Neo outside the bar? Her real self?

She’s angry, her clothes are scuffed and a bit ragged in some places. You can FEEL the pain of losing Roman and how much she blames Cinder for that radiating off her.

It’s a bit of a small detail, but it was one I enjoyed very much.
