Hi, happy Wednesday to you. I’ve never been to Omaha but I have enjoyed some wonderful Omaha Steaks via the company.

When did you start writing fanfic? Was it with BBC Sherlock? Do you write for other fandoms? It’s so much fun to be swept up into fangirling and shipping a ship. I was told you are also a X-Files’ fan. Me too. Your SSS ⛄️❄️

I wrote some fanfic in… I’m gonna say 1997-2000. Buffy, Labyrinth, and a few other things. The pseud is still up on ff .net but I will not be sharing it with you (general) because my Juvenalia is CRINGE.

After that I quit until S3 of Sherlock aired, and I haven’t been inspired to create for other fandoms.

And yes, X-files was probably my first fandom, although since it was 1993 and I was 13 I didn’t get to participate in it in an organized way. I wasn’t aware fic existed at that point and so all my fics for that one remained vague nebulae in my head.

Hi! Your cat in the Christmas tree is so funny. 🎄 I saw the cutest gif on tumblr the other day where this cat was so mesmerized by the Christmas tree lights and balls. I hope you had a nice weekend. Will you have to travel to see family for the holiday or will you be hosting? I’m very happy to be staying home for Christmas. Your SSS ⛄️❄️

I am going to glamorous Omaha Nebraska, where my parents and brothers live, for Christmas. As a child we moved around a TON... I went to three high schools my freshman year. But then they moved out there when I was a senior (I stayed with family friends to finish out the year and get in-state tuition here in Colorado) and they have parked their asses there for TWENTY FOUR YEARS NOW.

Not that I'm bitter.

My mom tells the story of when they first moved out there and I was driving around town with them and she thought, "I looked at your face and I could tell you thought it was a shithole." But Omaha, despite its awful weather, is actually a pretty decent town these days. I really want to have a steak at Omaha Prime while I'm out there.

The tree-climber, we discovered upon our return home, did manage to break an ornament, though not one of my expensive ones so that's fine. Plus he likes to drown his catnip mice and my SD made a cute little felt ornament for us back in 2010 and sure enough, into the water dish it went. The tree, as of now, has about the bottom two feet ornament-free to help him avoid sinning.

Hi SSS, apparently I DID get this ask. I watched s1 when it first came out in the US, so maybe a few months after the UK got it? I am a Sherlock Holmes aficionado from small times and will watch anything with him in it (which has led me to some… interesting media). But I didn’t ship Sherlolly until he was a dick to her with his deductions in ASIB. At that point I saw their faces and thought, “Oooooh, that’s not just a crush she has, is it? Oooooooh, that isn’t just one-sided, is it?” and I was gone and started looking for fics. Didn’t get motivated to create my own until Mary Morstan and S3, tho.

Hi! Happy Friday! NYC in December! Wonderful. I've been there once for the holiday and it was definitely like a Christmas movie. I am envious that you can make your own bread. I love the smell of fresh baked bread. I rarely bake, but tried some box cake mix hacks from youtube last week and my cupcakes came out really well. Have you put up your holiday decorations? It's funny how string lights can bring us joy. your SSS.

I did! Last year I did not because we’d adopted a new kitten and as soon as the tree went up, this happened.

However he’s calmed down a lot and so this year apart from a few “these look EXACTLY like my toys which you LIKE me playing with so why are you spraybottling me MOTHER?!?!?” moments it’s been good.

Hi secret Santa! I’m actually in New York City at this moment on business which really kicked my Christmas spirit off. It’s exactly like every Christmas movie ever, apart from the smell:). Like the late great Mary Morstan, I bake my own bread but otherwise basically the world of baking is a mystery to me. Happy Christmas!

I keep getting banned on AITA on Reddit. It’s never for comments I think are actually inflammatory or vulgar but apparently I am just, like, the worst. It’s most fun fantasy-of-being-wise stuff so I guess I’ll keep on until my permaban.

And while I WAS delighted at the movie’s use of “vehicle” because that IS something Montana people say way more than normal people do… the Montana accent is not just braying like an angry horse. Sorry Ben.

Otherwise “The Power of the Dog,” was a good but misleadingly advertised film. Beautifully shot, well performed, what minimal plot ther was was good. Go see it. But people from Montana don’t sound like that.

Miscellaneous emotions today.

My company is going public! We are going to travel out to NYC and ring the bell at the NASDAQ! I have been invited on this trip and possibly Mr. Folio can come along and make it an awesome mini-break!=happy

This is really cool! I am proud of this company at which I was a very early employee!

Dawning realization that this invitation may well be because after the recent departure of lady VP I am the highest ranking person with breasts at the company!=rather disheartening

Srsly while I am fine with my role etc I am NOT a high ranking corporate officer. The c suite is very amply Y chromosomed

You can’t just go into a department store and buy a pantsuit anymore!= huh?

Like I want a black or navy pantsuit appropriate for a senior engineer doing senior engineer business things. This did not used to be complex. Macy’s and Dillard’s had eff all. I’ll hit up the internet but I hadn’t realized these aren’t a thing anymore.
