I’ve had it up to HERE.
I have had it up to Shaq’s eyeballs with scientists and doctors selling out for a quick buck.
I saw a commercial last night while watching TV with my wife that had Dr. Mayim Bialik, Ph.D, an actual neuroscientist, hawking some miracle brain pills called Neuriva.
Of course, these statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
What a load of crap.
If I were building a bridge, and I used the same tactics that these vitamin companies use to sell their sugar pills to the public, I would end up in prison.
Yet someone who has a Ph.D in neuroscience can use their inherent authority on these matters to lend credence to pseudo-scientific nonsense.
Dr. Bialik isn’t alone, of course. There are many, many professionals and experts who are more interested in making money than advancing the cause of Science and the advocacy thereof.
I don’t have a problem with Dr. Bialik being paid for endorsements and commercials, but it gives me pause when it’s a blatant abuse of her credentials to turn a quick buck.

An Engineer’s Thoughts - Pt. 1
Have you ever noticed how much crap we throw away?
Back in the day, there was a cottage industry of repairmen who made their living fixing your broken radios, televisions, and innumerable appliances around your house.
Today, we are faced with corporate pressure to end the “right to repair”. Apple is campaigning against this. If they had their way, you’d no longer have the right to replace your phone’s screen or replace its battery.
We have a problem with E-waste in our world, and with potentially hazardous materials such as lead or lithium used in their manufacture.
The message of the day: Just because something isn’t producing carbon doesn’t mean it’s not harming the environment. Think twice before throwing things away.
