okay but is the man still inside of bakugou
#if they really REALLY needed someone to stitch him up best jeanist was RIGHT THERE and actually had a relationship with bakugou#edgeshot-worm-man is certainly something to behold though.#i think it's like a lizard tail situation--the part inside bakugou being edgeshot's lizard tail that he disconnected from his body

Summary: Fifteen years ago, a boy disappeared. Ripples in the water, the butterfly flaps its wings, and everything changes. The notice is unremarkable, one face lost among a sea of lost faces. It is a yearbook photo of a young boy in his school uniform. His eyes are wide, shadowed by dark half-circles. His hair is green, wild and curly. He does not smile as he stares into the camera, and the somber expression makes him looks far older than his purported thirteen years. The text below the photo reads: HAVE YOU SEEN THIS BOY?
Author: @townwithoutheart
Note from submitter: I think about this fic series ALL the time, it's so good 🙏

Something I'm fond of saying is "The villain drives the plot but the hero sets the tone." Something that's very important about this is that the resolution to the conflicts presented need to match the hero's tone. If your story doesn't believe problems can be solved the way the hero wants to solve them... why is this the hero?
If you want your problems to be solved with brutal catharsis, then your hero should be someone who believes in brutal catharsis.
If you want your problems to be solved with forgiveness and reconciliation, then your hero should be someone who believes in forgiveness and reconciliation.
They don't have to begin there. This can be something they come around to over the course of the story, as they grow and change per their character arc. But by the time of their ultimate encounter with the villain, their values should be the values that drive the story forward.
There's this thing in D&D that some DMs do. Where, when you roll enough damage to deplete the monster's hit points, they'll turn to you and say, "That's a kill. Describe for the group how you take the monster down." And you're allowed to come up with some cool maneuver or something that your character did in order to deliver the finishing blow.
The hero's ultimate triumph over the villain is a lot like this. More than any other part of the story, this moment is their apotheosis. It should be a celebration of everything they are and everything they stand for.
You have defeated the villain; Now describe for the group what form that victory takes.

Alexis ness has me crying into my dishes two weeks later what do you meeeeaaaaaaaan he’s the first one in kaisers life to acknowledge him as a human being made of flesh and blood, not a tool or a god or a piece of shit. what do you meaaaaaaaannnnn he’s taken him off the pedestal he put him on and realized that kaiser’s not magic and that actually, Alexis himself is the one with the magic and he’s going to use it to heal kaiser. Yes I know this is just ‘I can fix him’ and half of me is like Alexis no get OUT of there honey! But the other half is like ‘yeah :’) okay magic man do your thing’
#isagi and ness are the most clear cut I can fix him/I can make him worse duo I’ve ever seen#I can’t wait for them to play against Germany again aughhhhh#I was just washing my dishes I swear#but just thinking about ness being like ‘no you’re a human being’ like something so simple and so. necessary and so undoing for kaiser#like. fuck offfffffffffff with this soap opera of a manga I’m not kidding when I say they put something in blue lock they really did

complain complain gripe gripe gripe one irredeemable quality about me is that I’m constantly beefing with both bakugou stans and bakugou haters in my mind.
‘he wasn’t that bad actually/it wasn’t his fault because 14 year olds have no agency/maybe deku just had bad vibes/he gets a pass because the bullying was just because of gay love and we all know it’s just pigtail pulling boys will be boys stuff’—awful takes that I am so tired of
‘in a story about redemption and change, this kid is uniquely irredeemable’—unfortunately you also didn’t get it
The funny thing is I feel like both of these stances stem from the same thing, and that’s discomfort in redeeming a character that HAS done awful things and also just kind of sucks without a big Trauma to make his assholery ‘excusable’. Like. He was that bad. And yeah he wasn’t taught the best and he was far from the only child that made izuku’s life miserable but he did take an active role in bullying him and he is responsible for those choices. And he’s also someone who can grow and change and make better choices and ‘earn redemption’ and that’s an important aspect of the story. like. He doesn’t need excusing and he also doesn’t need eternal damnation, and those are just two sides of the same coin in my opinion.
#tt talks#maybe it’s just because I’m not 15#haha ignore me just scrolling and feeling judgy#but also!! let me say. I do give a lot of leeway for different interpretations of bakugou in like. ao3 stories#bc his role fluctuates wildly based on what type of story That Author is trying to tell. and if their#bakugou serves the message of the story they’re telling im usually way more fine with deviations#this is more about people talking about specifically canon interpretations or canon-verse stuff if that makes sense

This was the message that BNHA needed going into Act Three when it decided the focus would be on saving the villains.
The School Festival Arc with Gentle first presented the idea that it was possible for a villain to change for the better with time, effort, and the desire to do so. And Act Three was also intended to show that with that same effort from everyone, society could change for the better.
So it was jarring in Act Three when at least two of the villains marked to be saved (Shigaraki and Toga) demonstrated the desire to change/become a better person for others and were still abruptly killed off while being branded with the label of "villain"

a word for 'bad miracle'
chapter 5 is here
Fic summary: Twenty years ago, Midoriya Hisashi walked out on his wife and Quirkless child. Three days ago, Midoriya Inko received a phone call informing her of his demise and when his funeral would take place.
Sometimes you’re a 25 year old war veteran, making a difference one day at a time in a post-All For One Japan that’s still feeling the repercussions of your high school days. Other times you’re simply the forgotten child of a deadbeat, left to clean up your father’s messes because he was too much of a coward to take any responsibility.
And now, you’re a full time big brother, because the biggest mess left behind was the child your father replaced you with.
Chapter summary: Emotional avoidance is when a person avoids thoughts or feelings of a traumatic event. This process is mostly internal, and others may not notice that the person is avoiding anything at all as they try to distance themselves from any mental recognition of what they have been put through.
One of the lesser known effects of this avoidance is difficulty in making or forming relationships with others, as the subject takes careful steps to avoid any of the unpleasant emotions that can come with human connection.

have some snow days, so i'm back with more fic recs!
i read most of ijustwanttodestroy 's work, and let me tell you it is ALL so amazing, but i wanted to shout out Walking Study in Demonology and Good Friends in particular. ijuswanttodestroy plays a lot with themes of suicide, corruption, and choices you can't take back, so fair warning--their stuff is, in general, pretty dark. But their writing is VERY good--it's so smart and descriptive without being flowery.
Walking Study in Demonology is not what you think it is. like. it's great from the start but it's also. it's not what you think it is. the left turn this fic takes--it's legendary. like it goes OFF the rails in the most inventive way, it's such an incredible concept and i'm like. still in awe of how this was put together and also just weeping and also this might have helped solve some of my writer's block hahahaha
Good Friends takes the 'friends who you would hide a body for' concept and runs with it. very dark, very funny, and the 'fucked up' tag on this fic is well-deserved. i don't want to say too much for fear of giving things away but suffice it to say i was on the edge of my seat for this entire read. i have not stopped thinking about it for like 4 days now.
The A Difference in Perspective fic series...god. takes outside pov and case fic to the next level. there's this one moment--many moments in fact but this ONE moment toward the end that just. destroyed me it absolutely got me. the characters in this are so incredible, the recurring theme of izuku as a mirror--it's. such a beautiful work. like seriously it's so amazing.
And a couple ongoing fics that i think could use some love because they are GREAT
Whack a Mole is a really fun dekuyama fic that asks the hard-hitting question, 'what if they were BOTH traitors?' and has really great aoyama characterization, which i am always hungry for. izuku is a lying liar in this one, but so is aoyama so it works out.
a word for 'bad miracle' is about izuku adopting his half-sister after their father dies, and it's such a great study of the grieving process, and how complicated and ugly it can be, and moving forward after losing someone you may have never known in the first place, and also about how much middle school sucks. this is an oc-heavy fic but the oc's are so well-fleshed out and creatively written, especially hinata. ch 4 was the best one yet and i can't wait for the next one.
