Hi! I'm Mutive/Julia/the writer of Ascension. I took down the fic as I had ideas for expanding it into a full length novel (with serial numbers filed off) and thought that if I did that, it was *probably* best to take it down. (As noted, in the comments section, it wasn't taken down for any bad reason.)

The original fic has been very much expanded (it's about 6xs its original length at this point), but also is somewhat different. (It's set in roughly the modern world, has a human male antagonist/part of the love triangle as well, etc.) I'm happy to send it to you if you're interested (and I'd love feedback if you're kind enough to share it, particularly constructive critique.) Or I'd also be happy to send you the older version if that's really what you're interested in.

Hi! Wow, this is crazy, I never really expected my tumblr post to actually reach you. I get that... it has happened to me with a couple of my stories as well - I would start with a concept in mind, briefly develop it, only to realize that I could do so much more with it.

I would love to read it and I'll do my best to share my feedback. I believe I might have missed the comment where you said it would be taken down since I went through a period of not really checking in on AO3, but yeah, I always like to see what people come up with especially regarding the Emperor and Stelmane.

On a side note, I just checked out Schrodinger's Squid. I feel like I could write an essay back on how much I agree with some of the points you made LMAO. You pretty much put into words what I was thinking and one of the reason I find the Emperor's character so intriguing and compelling - the dichotomy in the way he acts, or would respond to different actions from part of the player gives a lot of room for thought. It makes you think about his true intentions. "He's not really a good character, seeing how he acts if we wrong him" when, in real life, we don't really judge that way the people we know. (It would be like saying, oh, I love my partner/friend/colleague, but I'm not sure if they're a good person because they wouldn't react well if I suddenly decided to stab them 36 times in the chest)

We basically have to "deal" with the issue of knowing too much about his character, which, in a normal scenario, we wouldn't even be able to. (In a very, very distant way, the situation kind of reminds me of the first Undertale games, if you catch my drift)

So I'm trying to find a belynne stelmane x the emperor ao3 fic I've read about last year and I absolutely loved it... I thought I had saved it, but it seems I only left kudos because for the love of me I CANNOT find it again and it's driving me crazy.

It was a rather long (I think 7ish chapters or so?) and very creative take on how the relationship between these two started. The emperor appeared as a masked figure, and belynne wasn't aware of who he was until later in the fic. He helped her with politics and had a really interesting and well put together story going on, even developing a crush at the masked figure at first without knowing about his true nature.

I need to know if any of yall have read this fic because I am going to become insane trying to find it again. It was easily in my top 3 BG3 fics.
