Thinking about the fact that I truly believe mlvn COULD’VE been cute had they not gotten them together in the first season (and obviously if mike wasn’t the most queer coded character of all time) Like, imagine that all of season one was the same, but Mike didn’t end up making any moves on El and they were just left as really close friends. Season 2 could stay the same and they have a really sweet reunion like they do in the show but they DONT kiss at the Snowball and maybe just have like a look at each other or something that hints that they could maybe be more than friends. Then during all of s3, El learns more about being a person outside of the lab by befriending Max and the others (including Mike) and they have moments like Jopper and Jancy and Lumax all had in the previous seasons to show the audience their chemistry and possible romance but nothing is established. And show them fight and be equals like real people!! And then drag out their actual confirmation until the final season it would be such a beautiful story…

Oh wait…that’s just Byler almost…hmmmmm…

the thing that fucks me up about mhe is thinking about the possibility of their story being a loop until claire dies. they can fall in love again and again and claire can wipe her memories again and again. and oliver will pretend to lose his memories every time so he can get to know claire over and over until she's gone. maybe oliver tries to convince claire to not wipe her memories. maybe oliver deletes one version of their story. but no matter what they can fall in love over and over for a year.
