Round 7 - Final round! It is time to choose who is going to be the people's pick for pope. We have Fabio Baggio against Matteo Zuppi. Our two Italian cardinals can battle it out...
You know the drill, but their profile is under the post in case it's your first time voting.
Matteo Zuppi - a 69 yo Cardinal and Archbishop of Bologna.
Spoken out about immigrants and Europe’s moral duty to welcome them. Aligned with the late pope’s views. Helped end the civil war in Mozambique, leading of voice for the Vatican-China agreement and is generally known for his diplomacy.
He met with President Zelenskyy after the pope’s funeral to discuss the facilitation of the return of Ukranian children that were illegally deported from Russia and the release of prisoners.
Views:
Opposes right-wing populism and nationalism
Encourages dialogue with the LGBT-community
Not opposed to make celibacy optional
Fabio Baggio - a 60 yo Italian Cardinal and Under-Secretary of the Migrants and Refugees Section of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development
He supports improved legal entrance for migrants and refugees. Most of his career has been dedicated to migrants and refugees.
He was member of the COVID-19 Commission of the Vatican and promoted the vaccine as an ‘act of love’. Has been working on setting up and ecologically focused farming laboratory and aims to promote the transition to a circular, generative economy.

Round 2 – You have already picked a few favourites so now we can truly start with the brackets. Polls still run for a day. Due to a few ties and mistakes in the previous round, a few more cardinals went through than expected but that shouldn’t make too much of a difference.
Pierbattista Pizzaballa goes straight through to the next round because he had a LOT of votes and I had an uneven nr of cardinals.
Propaganda is encouraged for your favourite cardinals (as are any artistic endeavours of course), but please don't insult each other.
Consider locking yourself in a room while you vote to make it seem more real All posts can be found under #popepoll

I'm not kidding when I say the derangement of Trump voters needs to be studied. I'm not talking about their general idiocy or bigotry, because those are easy to explain. I'm talking about them thinking he will do things that are the opposite of what he explicitly said. This has been a thing since the very beginning; people just don't believe Trump when he talks, or they only believe the things they want and genuinely think he's not serious about the rest. There was this insane article recently with an undocumented immigrant who supported Trump, didn't think he would deport her because she was one of the "good ones", basically, and she hoped he would create a path for citizenship for people like her.
This is the man who openly campaigned on deporting undocumented immigrants, saying immigrants are "poisoning the blood" of the country, and he wants to try to "de-naturalize" naturalized citizens and get rid of birthright citizenship. Why the fuck would someone listen to all of that, and think he would create paths for citizenship? (You know who just tried to create a path for citizenship for some undocumented immigrants? Joe Biden. His plan to have undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens become naturalized just got struck down in federal court btw.)
None of this has ever been a secret. Trump is incapable of keeping a secret. Liberals are the only people who have believed what he's said since 2016, and that's why we're the only ones who have consistently tried to stop him since '16 and who aren't shocked when he says and does terrible things, because he said he'd do them! But why don't people believe him, when they don't have this magical thinking nearly as much for other politicians? The only thing I can think of is that it's, once again, the cult leader factor that Trump has.
It's just so insane. Trump will be like "I'm going to pour gasoline all over your house and light a match" and idiot voters are like "wow I hope Trump gives me a brand new mansion 😍"

Honestly trump claiming that Zelenskyy is a dictator for not holding elections during war makes sense once you remember that he's a convicted felon, of course he doesn't understand the concept of following the law.

The Pope's condition remains critical but stable.
He has not suffered any more respiratory crisises and his parameters are stable. He underwent a scheduled CT scan to monitor the double pneumonia.
